“Yeah, and it’s pretty inconvenient sometimes. Can you stop being so hot?”

She rolled onto her side and kissed me. “You make me feel so good. No one has ever made me feel as good as you do.”

I felt about ten feet tall. There was no greater compliment than that.

“You make me feel good, too. And happy.”

I kissed her and she snuggled against me. “You seem like you’re always in a good mood. Are you?”

“I try to be. Attitude is everything. But we all have bad days.”

“This was an amazing day,” she said softly.

“I couldn’t agree more.”

“Are you hungry? I could whip something up.”

I put an arm around her waist. “I’m not hungry for food. You’re not leaving this bed anytime soon.”

She hummed her amusement. “Promises, promises. I hear hockey players don’t have much stamina.”

I laughed because the opposite was true. I loved the way Shea poked fun at me.

“Challenge accepted,” I said, moving back on top of her. “Good luck walking tomorrow.”

Her giggle was stifled by my kiss. This was the culmination of every sexual fantasy I’d had since moving back home—every one of them about her.

We wouldn’t be getting much sleep tonight.

CHAPTER TWENTY

Shea

I pushed the covers aside and sat up, finding Holt sitting on the small bench at the foot of my bed, tying his dress shoes. He turned and smiled softly.

“Sorry I woke you up.”

I took a few seconds to silently admire him. His dress shirt was unbuttoned at the neck and his sandy hair was a sexy mess. The light coating of scruff on his face was a shade darker than his hair.

“It’s okay,” I said, suddenly self-conscious.

It was a good thing I’d pulled on a T-shirt before finally going to bed in the wee hours of the morning. I’d never slept naked and I never would. Too many worst-case scenarios about firefighters unexpectedly seeing me naked ran through my head.

“I’ll make us some breakfast,” I said, sliding out of bed.

Holt stood, stuffing his tie into his pants pocket. “Actually, I told my parents I’d meet them and the kids at Tipper’s.”

“Okay, no problem.”

“You should go back to sleep. It’s only seven. I have to go back to The Moose and take a shower.”

Right. He couldn’t show up for breakfast in a rumpled tuxedo. I felt a surge of guilt over last night. Like what we’d done was somehow illicit.

“Can I get a ride back to The Barn to get my car?” I asked as I pulled on a pair of jean shorts. “If you have time.”

“Of course.”

He came over and put his arms around me, his hands on my ass giving me tingles of awareness and arousal. My hips were sore from last night, but every inch of me still wanted more.
