“Not as much as you are.” Axel tilts my chin up and kisses me, slow and deep. I melt into him, desire blooming inside me like the torches now flickering to life along the beach.

We break apart, breathless, as a server approaches with a table set for two. “Your dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Cain.”

“Perfect timing,” Axel murmurs, squeezing my hand. We take our seats as the server lights the candles.

The food is decadent, freshly caught seafood and tropical fruits, all of it artfully arranged. But I have eyes only for my Axel. The candlelight caresses his carved features, highlighting the laughter lines that crease the corners of his eyes, his high cheekbones, cut jaw and sensual mouth.

After all our time together, he still makes my heart skip a beat. Our love is deeper than ever.

Axel lifts his glass. “To us.”

“To us,” I echo, clinking my drink against his. I smile at him over the rim of my glass.

Forever.

The End.
