Sandra smiles, the corners of her eyes crinkling. She flashes me a toothy grin, something mischievous glinting behind her baby blues. “How hungry would you say you are?”

“Not terribly. Why?”

She places her hand on my knee, stroking her palm up my thigh. “Well, I was thinking… We could skip the restaurant altogether and go straight to the Barovsky. You know, for old time’s sake?”

I reflect her grin, excitement stirring within me. “The Barovsky, you say?”

“Are you in?”

“A thousand percent. We’ll tell the receptionist you’re my wife when we check in.”

“Iamyour wife.”

I tenderly grasp her chin and lean in for a kiss. “Yes, but this time when I say it, it’ll actually be true.”
