“Vance?” I call out to my bodyguard.

“Yes, ma’am?”

I stand up a little straighter, refuse to give the man even an inkling of satisfaction. “Break his kneecaps.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Greshny’s face goes white. “W-what?”

“You seem to think that women don’t know what they’re doing. I’m here to prove you wrong. Now, I’m feeling particularly generous, so pick a leg you like and I’ll only have Vance break one.”

“You can’t do this. The Antonovs abhor violence.”

I click my tongue. I can hear Dad’s voice in my ear again.

Real power is when you don’t have to lift a finger, Sandra. Real power has men trembling before you with a single word.

I swallow my impatience and bury my irritation. “You’re right,” I grumble. “I’ll spare you your kneecaps today. Instead, I’ll be reducing your take from thirty percent to five.”

Greshny’s jaw nearly hits the floor. “You can’t—”

“I just did. Consider it the price for your disrespect.”

“Listen here, bitch—” He only manages a single step toward me before Vance nails him in the gut with a swift uppercut. Greshny folds over, wheezing. “This isn’t how Mikhail ran things.”

“You’re right,” I reply calmly. “But I’m not my father. Now, apologize, swear your allegiance tome, and maybe—just maybe—I’ll give you twenty percent instead.”

His mutters something under his breath. Probably nothing polite, but I don’t care. I’ve got the man cornered, and just like Dad said, I didn’t lift a finger. Will Greshny like me any better after this unfortunate encounter? Of course not.

But I’m not here to make friends.

I’m here to rule.

Chapter 19

Andrei

Ichecked in early.

I stare at the text message for far longer than necessary, admittedly puzzled to know that Sandra has somehow managed to get a hold of my cell phone number. I’d heard through the grapevine that, in another life, her father and uncles once owned a cybersecurity company—now defunct—so I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Sandra had the basic know-how to get my information.

Are you that eager to see me?

Don’t flatter yourself. I finished my work earlier, that’s all. Don’t keep me waiting.

Give me an hour. I’m stuck in a meeting.

“What’s got you in such a good mood?” Roman asks me from across my office.

I set my phone screen-side down on my desk, swallowing the warm sensation blooming in my chest. I’ll admit the thought of Sandra lying in bed, ready and wet and waiting for me is certainly amusing.

Will she undress herself before I get there out of spite? Surely she knows by now how much I enjoy ripping her clothes off. Maybe she’ll tease herself to the thought of me, coming on her own fingers while she waits for my arrival. She’s certainly stubborn enough to try and prove she can get off without me—butchoosesto have me anyway.

“Nothing,” I grumble. I have to focus. I can’t let thoughts of Sandra distract me now.

“Bullshit. You’re practically glowing.”

I sneer at my brother. “Never say that again.”
