Page 83 of Unleashing Kokou

Unable to stop myself, I caressed her shoulders then down her spine to where the sheet blocked my view of her perfect ass. I pressed my palm to the small of her back and kissed her cheek a couple times before crawling from the bed to use the bathroom.

After using the facilities, I went for a run. By the time I returned and showered, Kokou was awake and making breakfast for us.

I stood at the kitchen doorway watching the way she helped Kennedy sprinkle ground pepper and salt into a bowl with eggs.

There was nothing else on earth sexier than watching a woman be a mother.

“The two of you are supposed to be in bed.” I spoke up. “It’s your birthday, after all.”

Kennedy giggled. “Abi wanted to teach me how to make scrambled eggs.”

“I see.” I entered and kissed of my girls on the cheek. “I’m in. Teach me too.”

“Dad, you already know how to make them.”

“But there is always something new to learn.” I winked at her.

I couldn’t help myself falling a little more for Kokou. Even if I didn’t know if she was ready to hear those words from me yet, I still felt my heart swelling wonderfully at the mere thought of her. We sat together, eating, talking, listening to Kennedy’s laughter.

Strange, a year before I never thought I’d see my daughter so happy.

With the plates squared away, Kokou left the room and returned with a colourful headwrap. She sat on the floor between my thighs and handed me the wrap. My heart raced—this felt like something a little more intimate than making love.

Though over the past few months she’d gone out a few times without the wrap, she still wore them from time to time—a few times shetwinnedwith Kennedy.

People stared but the two merely held hands and wandered about their business.

Patiently, she taught me how to put her wrap on, how to fold it all together, how to tuck the ends in perfectly. When the lesson was over, she tilted her neck back and I kissed her gently.

Right then I wanted to feel her naked and writhing against me.

But Kennedy had been looking forward to the things we had planned.

As time drifted by, we went about our day. From little shops in small villages around the seaside, to a boat Piraeus—we were having the time of our lives. By the time we looked up, we were still in Piraeus, and I didn’t want to take a ferry back at that time of night. We booked a hotel room with a view of the harbour. While Kennedy shower and Kokou called home, I called down to the front desk for a birthday cake, a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a bowl of grapes.

By the time everyone was together, I entered the room with the chocolate cake, singing the birthday song. Kennedy giggled and Kokou shook her head.

“When did you plan all this?” She asked.

She kissed as her and my daughter stood side by side.

“Okay, both of you.” I smiled. “Make a wish.”

Kennedy closed her eyes, but Kokou stared at me, something warm and loving flashing through her gaze. I couldn’t help feeling completely loved in that moment.

“Okay, my little dumpling.” She’d taken to calling Kennedy. “Ready?”

Kennedy shook her head.

“On the count of three.” I said. “One—two—two and a half—two and three quarters—”

“Dad!” Kennedy pouted.

“Okay!” I laughed. “Three!”

Together, they blew out the candles then cheered.

Eventually, Kennedy was lying on her stomach on the floor playing with her tablet. I pulled Kokou into my lap and she immediately cuddled into my chest. Holding onto her, I kept my eyes on my child and couldn’t help feeling contempt.
