“Her name is Seema Lipson?”

“Oh, our Wasp.” She perked up. “She isn’t in from her latest haul yet. Is there a problem?”

“No.” I shook my head. “Nothing like that. A few days ago, she helped me with a situation I was having on the highway. I just wanted to speak with her about it, that’s all. Nothing is wrong.”

“That’s our queen.” She told me, proudly. “She can’t see someone in trouble and not help. That’s her best friend over there. He’s waiting for her too—Levi!”

“Yes, doll!” The man replied, hurrying over.

“This is—” The woman stopped.

“Carter Finch.” I extended a hand to him.

“He’s waiting for Wasp too.”

Levi side-eyed me.

“It’s no trouble, Levi, stand down.” The woman laughed. “Levi is very protective of his girl.”

Levi straightened his spine and offered me his hand. Accepting, I bowed over it like a knight would.

“Levi Franklin.” He told me.

“It’s nice to meet you.”

He escorted me over to where he was sitting, and we sat together.

“So, why are you looking for Wasp?” He wanted to know.

“She saved my life a few days ago.” I replied.

Levi grinned. The pride on his face was etched there like a tattoo.

It was very obvious to me that these people loved their Wasp, and if I had walked in with any ill-intent, they would have ripped me apart.

“She’ll be here soon.” Levi promised. “So, Carter Finch, are you single?”

“Um—I am.”

“Not for me, silly!” He smacked my shoulder. “For our Wasp. She’s very single no matter what she tells you and while she isn’t looking—”

Levi eased back to check out my ass.

“I can make very certain she’s open minded.”

Laughing, I couldn’t help the heat rising in my cheeks. I wasn’t used to people being like this with me, but I didn’t hate it.

It wasn’t long after that Seema walked through the door.

She stretched her back, paused at the entrance before taking a step forward. Though she was only dressed in a pair of jeans, a tank-top with Pink Floyd on the front and a baseball cap covering her hair, she was still one of the sexiest women I’d ever seen.

Levi cheering and darting by me drew me back to reality.

I watched as he scooped her into his arms and twirled her around. She laughed, kissed his cheek before walking over to the front desk.

Patiently, I waited until she was finished. Levi said something to her and pointed toward me and I felt horrible.

She was tired and seeing me there was probably the last thing she wanted or expected—as she wandered over to me, her shoulders rose and fell heavily.
