My gaze locked with Seema’s who was still holding the blanket in one hand.

“I’m not the enemy.” She told me, trying to tug her hand away.

“I didn’t know that.” The huskiness of my voice stunned even me.

She was holding her breath.

“Breathe, Goddess.” I cooed. “Breathe.”

Seema exhaled and tried again to get away.

This time, because I held her in place, the force of her pull knocked her off balance and she fell on me.

“Now, this is an interesting position, Goddess.” I growled softly at her. “I find I like it—a lot.”

Seema blinked, looked down to where her palms were pressed to my chest then scrambled to get off me.

Although her cheeks didn’t grow red with her embarrassment, I could tell. The shyness in her brown eyes filled me with a kind of happiness I couldn’t remember every experiencing.

I sat up.

She backed away to put space between us.

“Is something wrong?” I asked.

“No—I was just covering you.” Seema cleared her throat. “Dillon is upstairs with Eli—he said something about a sleepover. They picked up dinner on their way and was waiting for you before they ate.”

“I see.” I nodded. “Have dinner with us?”

“Um—I have plans.” She thumbed over her shoulder. “Maybe next time. Levi is performing tonight, and I promised I’d be there. Tex has his friend Duke on watch and another friend, Hermes on standby. I didn’t want to go out without having backup.”

“You didn’t have to do that.”

“I wanted to.” She smirked. “It was a joy speaking with Tex. He is adorable.”

“Would it change your mind if I pointed out that he’s married?”

Seema shrugged and turned for the door. “I have to get dressed.”

“Goddess!” I called.

But she didn’t stop.

My eyes drifted down her back that sloped into an ass that I wanted to sink my teeth into. Licking my lips, I tried not thinking about her soft breasts against my chest, or the way she’d braced against me after she’d fallen.

What is it about this woman?

Exhaling loudly, I checked on what food my son had purchased. Craving chicken wings, I placed an order and waited until it arrived before I called the boys down for dinner.

I watched my son as he looked around.

“Don’t worry.” I told him. “We have guards.”

“That’s not—let me go get Seema.” Dillon told me.

“She has plans tonight.” I explained.

“Oh.”
