“She’s never met the likes of me.” Seema stepped back and slid her palms down my arms to lace her fingers with mine. “How about I make you this promise. I won’t walk away unless we talk first.”

“So, you’re thinking of leaving me?”

“Like you, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” she said. “I can’t promise I’ll stay because in all of this we want what’s best for Dillon. If my being here isn’t what’s best—”

The pain of that stabbed me in the heart but I knew she was right.

The first car pulled into the driveway and before we attend to whoever it was, I hugged her again, stole another kiss that wasn’t nearly long enough then allowed her to walk away.

Myra and Wolf entered, and I offered them something to drink before calling Tex. There wasn’t really much he could do from the other side of the border, but he would be there, in our ears for backup and any kind of tech help we might need.

Once the plan was set, Wolf and Myra left to find Audrey.

Tex hacked into the security system for us to watch what was happening.

Myra walked into the elegant building looking like she stepped out of the pages of a magazine. With her designer outfit and purse, she removed her sunglasses and sat in one of the luxury chairs, pretending to be checking her phone.

“Everyone ready?” Tex asked.

“Roger.” Wolf growled.

“Yup.” Myra pulled out a compact and checked her make up then snapped it shut.

“She’s coming down the elevator, third from your left, Myra.” Tex warned.

Myra dropped her phone and compact into her purse and shifted to the edge of her seat. She fumbled around into the side pocket of the purse, then dropped her free hand into her lap.

The moment the elevator door opened, she rose, tugged her body-con dress so the hem fell just below her knees and made her move.

With practiced ease, she crashed into Audrey.

“Oh!” She spoke quickly. “Je suis desolee! J'ai passé une si terrible journée!”

“What?” Audrey asked. “I don’t speak—sorry.”

“Je suis desolee.” Myra said again, bowing her head and hurrying off toward the elevators.

Audrey watched after her with a passing glance then slipped on her sunglasses and darted out of the building.

Myra stopped, peeked around the side of side then lifted a thumb toward the cameras.

“Done and done.” She reported.

“Get back to the car.” Wolf told her. “I’ll pick you up at the side as planned.”

“On my way, Wolfie!” She replied in a sing-song voice.

I glanced over at Seema, feeling jealous of Wolf.

It wasn’t because Myra was brave to not be a soldier but still carried off her mission without a hitch. No, I was jealous because I wanted the kind of relationship Wolf seemed to have with his wife—and I wanted it with Seema.

But her serious eyes were glued to the cameras and the different views Tex had set up on the large monitor on the wall.

She was in war-mode and I knew I wouldn’t get those beautiful eyes back on me for a while.

“I got Myra, we’re heading in.” Wolf announced.

“Roger.” Tex responded.
