Yandi sat across from him and licked her lips, staring at him with a confident smile.

“You wanted to talk?” Londen confirmed.

“Yes.” She cleared her throat and cupped her hands on top of the table. “I wanted to warn you. Lei is my best friend, but I like you and wanted to make sure you knew the truth.”

Quite frankly, Londen hadn’t shared enough of himself with Yandi for her to like him. From his first conversation with Lei, he decided she was the woman he’d place his effort with. Before they had their first FaceTime conversation, he did chat casually with Yandi, but after seeing that she was talking to Tussi as well, Londen lost interest.

“What version of the truth would you like to share, Yandi?”

Her smile dropped before it widened again. “Lei is only talking to you for the purpose of a bet. She’s talking to another man in here too. I wanted you to be aware that you’re being used.”

Londen chuckled softly, sitting back in his seat. He stared at her for a few seconds before sighing and looking toward the ceiling. Londen had no idea what Yandi wanted to say, but he certainly wasn’t expecting it to be this.

“What’s the reason for you sharing this with me?” Londen asked, though he already knew the answer.

Yandi shrugged, but she was confident when she said, “It’s the right thing to do.”

“For who? You? Because you’re not doing this for Lei.”

She laughed nervously. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, if that’s your friend, you should be more loyal to her than me. That’s your friend, right?” Yandi’s bottom lip poked out and brows wrinkled as she considered his question. She nodded. “Then you’re not being more loyal to me than her, you’re being more loyal to yourself. You came here to tell me that, hoping it would make me cut her off and fuck with you.”

Her hands lifted as she shrugged again. “So what if I did? This should, at least, prove to you I’ll always be honest with you.”

“Nah. This doesn’t show me you’re honest; it’s shows me you’re willing to sacrifice anyone if it means elevating yourself. It also shows me you aren’t to be trusted.” Londen stood. “I’dneverfuck with a woman like you.” Placing his palms on top of the table, he hovered over it and told her, “I’m not going to let anyone hurt or disrespect Lei, especially someone she trusts. You’d be wise to not think I can’t protect her because I’m locked down. For the sake of Lei’s heart, I’m not going to tell her about this betrayal, but if she gives me any indication that she doesn’t trust you, I won’t hesitate to let her know about this visit.”

“Londen…”

“Get the fuck outta here.”

Londen was so disgusted by the display he didn’t bother waiting for the guard to escort her out. This was one time he was actually glad to return to his cell.

??????

“Nigga… I know you didn’t.”

At the sight of Chase walking past them with a white bandage wrapped around both hands, Londen chuckled.

“Didn’t what?” Noah asked, tossing a card onto the table.

“Break that man’s fingers because he was talking to Mercedes.”

Noah’s tongue slipped across his teeth. “I told him he can either unmatch her or get them fingers broke so he couldn’t message her. He thought I was playing, I guess.”

“And you don’t see anything wrong with that?”

“Not at all.”

“Bruh, you can’t just force every man in here that she matches with to not talk to her.”

“I can actually, and the quicker they accept that, the better off we’ll all be.”

Londen knew there was no point in trying to talk some sense into Noah. When he committed himself to the pursuit of a woman, he didn’t let anything or anyone stand in his way. His fierceness and passion when it came to love had always been something Londen admired. All it took for him was one heartbreak, and he decided he’d stick to casual arrangements. Lei had him wanting more though, and he hoped she felt the same way.

“Yo…” Tussi almost sang, squeezing the shoulders of one of the old heads they were playing cards with. “Y’all know the Royalty chick I been talking to?”

Setting his cards face down on the table, Londen scratched his nostril and gave Tussi his full attention. Lei was supposed to tell her girls she was choosing him when she made it back to Rose Valley Hills that evening, and Londen wondered if that was what Tussi wanted to gossip about.
