She goes into the truck and brings back zip ties and rope. I’m a little surprised he wasn’t more prepared than this.

Quickly, I work to tie his hands behind his back with the zip tie. He grunts the entire time.

“Shut up. You sound like a fucking pig.”

Then, I use the rope to tie his feet together. It’s tight. I’m not worried about his comfort. Lifting him over my shoulder, I toss him into the bed of the truck, which is covered. I’m relieved I won’t have to worry about him being able to get out.

Once he’s secure, I turn to Jade and pull her into my arms. She absolutely loses it, sobbing into my chest.

“Look at me.”

She tilts her head back, and I swear I can see a thousand emotions in her expression.

“It’s over now, Sassy.”

“Are you going to kill him?” She asks.

I chuckle, “He was going to die anyway. But after he put his fingers inside you, baby girl. Yes, he’s going to die a painful death.”

“I need to be there.”

This isn’t the first time she’s mentioned wanting to be there when he dies. I am worried it’s not a good idea. Shaking my head, I say, “I don’t know that you need to see me like that.”

I wasn’t the man I am today when we dated all those years ago. I don’t know that she needs to see the monster I am when I kill.

She reaches and touches my filthy shirt, “I love you, Hunter. I want to know every part of you. I can handle it.”

“Even the monster?” I ask with an arched brow.

She smiles softly, “Show me your monster. I’ll love him too.”

I sigh, “Come on. Let's get this over with.”

I open the truck's passenger side door, and she gets in. After I slide into the driver's side seat and start driving, I call Max.

He answers. “Hey man. What’s going on?”

“Long story short, my father kidnapped Jade intending to kill us both as well as rape her. I need your basement.”

It would be easy enough to kill him in my basement. But the St. Andrews Cross in Max’s basement is calling to me.

“Shit. I knew something wasn’t right. Are you both okay?” He asks.

I nod as if he can see me, “We are fine. I’ll be better after this is taken care of.”

“The basement is always available to you. No questions asked. Do you need help?”

I sigh, “I’m sure I can handle it. He’s tied up in the back of his truck.”

He chuckles, “If you need help, let me know.”

I don’t need help, “I’ll be fine. It’s one man. He’s already restrained.”

He chuckles, “Enjoy. He has had this coming to him for a long time. Call me if you need me.”

I disconnect the call and motion for Jade to move over. When she does, I put my arm around her, “I’m okay, baby girl. We are okay.”

She sniffs, “I know. I’ve never felt anything like that in my life. I thought you were dead.”
