“Leave Remi alone.” His breath ghosted over my lips, soft yet commanding. He was a mass of intense emotion and restless power, practically vibrating with a fierce energy that threatened to consume me.

Fuck. My dick was straining against the zipper of my jeans. If Ghost leaned forward another inch, I’d probably come in my pants.

I swallowed hard, struggling to form a coherent thought under the intensity of his gaze. “If Remi wants—“

The words died in my throat as he leaned in, brushing my neck as he spoke. “Stay the fuck away from her.”

A soft moan escaped my lips. At that moment, I wanted nothing more than to drown in him, to lose myself in the searing heat and mindless pleasure only he could give me. But his words slowly sunk in and sparked my anger.

I placed my palms on his chest, intent on pushing him away and trying to ignore how firm the muscles beneath his shirt felt. “Mind your own fucking business.”

Our eyes remained locked on each other, sizzling with the heat of our emotions. I pushed him away with a hard shove.

Luckily, that was when Knox stepped in, calmly breaking up the fight with a gentle touch on both of our arms. He leaned into Ghost, but I heard him say, “Take it easy, mate. Cameras are out.”

I looked around and noticed that our encounter had caught the attention of the crowd and several cell phones were pointed in our direction. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.

Ghost gave me one last smoldering glance before turning to Knox and nodding. He stepped back and held his hands up in surrender. “Alright, alright....”

Ryder joined our small circle, sticking out his hand for a shake. “Grey, what are you doing here? I heard you were coming, but Talia didn’t know anything about it. She’s jealous.”

At least one person seemed happy to see me. I shook Ryder’s hand. “It was a last-minute thing. How’s Zoe doing?”

Ryder answered, but I was only half listening. Ghost stood rigidly, his face a mask of rage and disgust as he stared at me with burning intensity. The hatred in his eyes was like a physical force pushing against me.

“Are you coming to the party? It should be a good time.” Ryder seemed oblivious to Ghost’s animosity or the groups of women circling closer, as if ready to ambush us.

A woman in a barely there silver dress brushed up against my arm. I took a step away from her. “I’m not sure. It depends on what Remi wants to do.”

“What’s going on with you two? I was surprised when she said you two used to date. Small world, huh?” Ryder took a pull from his beer bottle.

“Yes.” I saw Remi enter the room and look for me. “Speaking of Remi, here she comes.”

She subtly nudged the woman in the silver dress away so she could stand next to me. My back was to Ghost so that I could talk to Remi, but I could still feel him bristling behind me.

“I hope you don’t mind, but I have to go to the party. Larry needs more candid shots of the band, but once he gets what he needs, we can leave. We can find a quiet place to talk.”

“Okay,” I reluctantly agreed.

I really wanted to get away from Ghost and his extreme hatred for me. He’d always hated me, but this time the emotions felt deeper. It added a cruel twist of irony to the whole situation. And from the confrontation we’d just had, somehow Remi was involved in his hatred. The night just kept getting worse.

“C’mon. Trudy’s waiting in the car for us. Larry needs to scope out the place before the band gets there.” She grabbed my arm. “Don’t worry, she has security for you. And, just a fair warning, she’s fangirling all over you.”

Chapter 18

Ghost

I slammed the glass down on the bar, the amber liquid sloshing over the rim. The burn in my throat did nothing to dull the ache in my chest.

Greyson’s arm wrapped around Remi, pulling her close to his body, his smile brighter than the lights overhead. The way he gazed at her like she was the only thing in the world that mattered...

I gripped the glass until my knuckles turned white, gritting my teeth against the surge of emotion. Jealousy. Possession. A desperate, clawing need to stake my claim.

The thought of Remi with him twisted my gut into knots. I couldn’t get her face out of my mind, those gorgeous eyes staring up at me as I sunk inside her. The sounds she made, the way she arched into my touch...

“Another,” I growled at one of the roadies, who was mixing drinks, shoving my glass forward.

Remi was gazing up at Greyson like he was a goddamn superhero, and then he pulled her into his arms. Greyson turned and caught my eye from across the room, probably to rub it in my face. I looked away, jaw clenched, and knocked back the drink in one burning gulp.
