I wasn’t quite sure what he meant. “It doesn’t matter now because I got the divorce papers this morning. We’re no longer married and we’re no longer fucking.”

“So, she’s not going to give it up anymore now that you’re divorced?” Ryder snickered.

“No. It’s because I was an asshole. I blamed her for Kody’s accident.”

Ghost stood up. “Everything is making a lot more sense now.” He rubbed his hands together. “We’ve got to come up with a plan. Our boy is in love and he needs to win back his girl. Lacey won’t make that easy, which is completely understandable since Bash, being a Neanderthal, has totally fucked this up. We can’t leave it in his hands or he’s doomed to failure. We’ll have to brainstorm some good ideas, but first, we need more beer.”

I watched him heading over to the fridge to get more beers, a protest on my lips. “I admit I may have overreacted about Kody’s accident, but there are other issues. Fuck, I just don’t think I’m capable of being in a real relationship.”

The guys all looked around at each other while Ghost began handing out beers. “Have you had sex with anyone besides Lacey since Vegas?”

“No,” I muttered.

He raised a brow. “How about in the last month since Kody’s accident?”

Sid laughed and then answered for me, “Obviously not.”

Ghost sat back down on the couch. “I’d call that a pretty real relationship. I can’t remember you ever having sex with the same woman twice, let alone for half a year. That proves you’re more than capable.”

I took a long pull at my fresh beer. “I haven’t had sex with anyone else, but sex with Lacey was never the problem. Outside of the bedroom, I’ve had a fuckton of trouble figuring her out. You guys make it look so easy. I’m not like that.”

Ryder eyed me like I was crazy. “It’s not fucking easy. Especially at first.”

“Seriously, man?” Sid laughed. “It took me fucking years to figure it out. I mean, I knew I loved Kaylie since she was 15 and shoved her hand down my pants.”

“Sidney, you fucker.” I glared at him and he laughed. “Shut the fuck up.”

Knox ignored us. “I went through a lot of deep, dark shit with Aila. You guys know most of it. It almost made me fuck things up with Summer. Thank God I pulled my head out of my arse before it was too late.”

Ghost was the last to pile on his words of wisdom. “Yeah, I was the king of denial about my feelings, and then I believed the worst in someone who loved me. It’s not easy, brother, but it’s worth it. There’s really only one question to answer and then the rest will fall into place. Do you love her?”

I stared them down, scared to admit the truth. “It’s not that simple.”

Sid shook his head in disgust. “It’s obvious that you do.”

Ghost agreed. “Yeah, man. I think so, too.”

“Yep, there’s no use fighting it, mate.” The corners of Knox’s mouth turned up in a teasing smile.

We all turned to Ryder and waited for him to weigh in. “Don’t be a stubborn asshole.”

I eyed them all warily as I drank my beer. Getting this outside my own damn head was actually refreshing. I knew my friends had my back, no matter what. And they all seemed to be in support of a relationship between Lacey and me. Ghost was right; I could use some damn help.

I was ready to admit to them what I’d already admitted to myself in the deep, dark hours of my long, sleepless nights.

“You assholes are fucking right. I love Lacey. Now, what the hell do I have to do to get her back?”

Chapter 34

Lacey

I’d left the office late because I got tied up on a phone call right before I was leaving for the day. Tired and cranky, the 15-minute trip felt like an hour. Just as I reached my building, I got a call from Nisha.

“I forgot to remind you before you left. You have a meeting with Kaylie for Cyber Angels tonight. I just talked to her; she’s on her way over to your place right now.”

“Tonight?” I huffed petulantly. “I don’t remember setting that up. I thought it was next week?”

“No, sorry. It’s tonight. Shall I call her and cancel?”
