“Open your eyes.”

I looked at the white plastic stick in my hands. I’d seen one of these before. It was a—

Pregnant.

The digital word in the gray window was staring at me.

“Holy fuck!” I looked up at her, my mouth gaping open in shock.

“Surprise!” She tucked her hair behind her ear and laughed nervously.

The shock that had rooted me to the floor slowly wore off as happiness flooded in. I tossed the stick on the bed so I could pick her up and spin her around, all the while whooping like a madman.

I put her down and then placed my hands on her shoulders. “Are you okay with this, wifey?”

She wiped a tear from her eye. “I’m more than okay. I’m ecstatic, but a little nervous. Are you ready to do it all over again?”

“You mean the long nights, the interrupted sleep, the diaper disasters, not leaving the house without bags of baby supplies?” I asked.

“Ugh,” she groaned. “It’s going to be so hard.”

I pulled her back into my arms. “It’s going to be so amazing. I feel like I’m bursting. I want to run outside and announce it to everyone right now.”

“Not yet, Sebastian. It’s still really early.”

I captured her lips with mine. “Okay, wifey. But tonight, we celebrate.”

Ten minutes later, we were back at our party. Even though I only had a few beers for the rest of the night, I felt drunk. I was just in a state of pure happiness.

Donovan waved for me to come over. He was talking to the guys. Ever since Ghost Parker’s last album and tour, he’d been working on getting us back together. He was married with two kids now, and he always reminded us that his kids needed a college fund.

He flashed something from his phone screen as I approached, but I wasn’t paying much attention. “All the dates that we already announced sold out. I’m working on expanding the tour.”

Shaking my head, I chuckled. I should have known that it wouldn’t be the ‘limited’ and ‘exclusive’ reunion tour that he pitched us.

I looked around at each of my bandmates: Sidney, Ghost, Ryder, and Knox. “I’m so fucking stoked to be going on tour together again.”

We huddled up.

Ghost looked at each of us. “Rehearsals start Monday. Be ready to shake off the rust. It sounds like our fans are ready for us, so let’s give this our all. Ghost Parker is back.”

It was the best motivational speech Ghost had ever given. And probably the only one that didn’t include any curses. Maybe fatherhood had matured him.

Ryder threw in our chant. “Ride or die, brothers.”

“Ride or die,” we answered enthusiastically. Everyone was pumped up.

I already had so much to be thankful for and so much more to look forward to. My family was growing. Our reunion tour was sold out. Fuck, I was a lucky bastard.

This wasn’t the end of Ghost Parker — it was a new beginning.

The End
