your dreams.

And most importantly,

I promise to always keep you

deeply and thoroughly satisfied.

He said the last part with a cocky smirk on his face. I launched myself into his arms. We were going in for another kiss when the officiant wormed her way between us again. “Hold on!”

She turned us to face the camera and then announced, “And now, it gives me great pleasure to say:

By the power vested in me by the State of Nevada, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may—“

Bash and I were already going at it like horny teenagers.

”—kiss your bride!”

The screen faded to black as we were wrestling tongues and pawing at each other.

I sat motionless. I was too stunned to move. Absolutely gobstruck by the vows. The kissing. The lovey-dovey.

Bash was just as quiet, sitting next to me.

I’d expected to see two sloppy drunks getting hitched. Instead, it was this mushy, romantic lovefest.

I thought about making a run for the door. And then what? I’d live my life pretending it never happened. It was an option. An option that was looking pretty good right now.

“What the fuck?” Shock imbued his voice.

I refused to look at him. Nope.

“I don’t even know what to say. That was...”

I threw out a few guesses to help him along. “Insane? Crazy? Fucked up? Shocking? Embarrassing? Awkward as fuck? Am I getting close yet?”

“Yeah.” His chin dropped to his chest.

“Let’s burn it.”

“After the divorce. For now, I’ll keep it under lock and key.”

My head whipped around so I could pin him with my fiercest stare. “Don’t ever let anyone see that.”

A little huff of air escaped from his lips. “Believe me, I won’t.”

I jumped up off the couch. “I have to go. Let’s never discuss this video again.”

Bash stood up. “Sure, wifey.”

Chapter 13

Bash

“I should have brought some glow-in-the-dark condoms.” Noah was grinning; I could see his white teeth eerily glowing a few feet from me. The girl on his lap squealed and then whispered something in his ear.

We were at a club that was hosting a rave. The walls were glowing with psychedelic patterns and the patrons had come prepared with fluorescent clothing, neon face and body paint, glow-in-the-dark jewelry and nail polish, and tons of glowsticks.

I was wearing all black, so I was almost invisible except for some specks of phosphorescent lint on my shirt and for several smeared patches of neon pink paint that had rubbed off Carrie’s face onto various parts of me.
