“She didn’t do this,” I shout. Kerrie flinches and backs up a step. “I have to go find her,” I say as I race up the stairs and grab my phone off the side table. I scroll through my contacts and click on her number, I hit dial.

It rings four times before she answers. “Corvin?”

I sigh in relief. “Katie, I need your help.”

After enlisting the help of Katie to get all the sites with the pictures shut down, I send Kerrie on her way to do damage control as I go after my girl. I hop behind the wheel of my Cielo Spyder and plant my foot. I fucked up this morning and I know she isn’t going to forgive me easily for doubting her. Clearly she isn’t the only one who has to let go of the past. I scan the streets hoping to catch her if she decided to walk instead of catching an Uber, but no such luck. I pull into the parking lot of her dorm building and double park not giving a shit if my car gets towed.

I run across the lot and race up the stairs, yanking on the door but the fucker is locked and I don’t have a card to get in. Last time I was lucky and came in the same time as another girl was leaving. I pull my phone out of my pocket and call her, it goes straight to voicemail.

“Shit!” I check the time on my phone and decide to try the workshop. I run back to my car and drive to the other side of campus. I park legally this time and run across the quad toward the workshop, in the east wing. Students gawk at me and I see a few of them pull them their phones out—fucking idiots think videoing me running around will get them views on Instagram. I slam to a stop in front of the classroom door and pray she is here. The moment I open the door a relieved sigh escapes me, she sits in the back of the room with her head down and her phone clasped between her hands. When she hears the door click shut behind me, she snaps her head up, confusion at the sight of me is clear in her features.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Anger laces each of her words and I honestly can’t blame her, I should never have doubted her. I make my way toward her and watch her grow tenser the closer I get. I take it as a win that she doesn’t throw the tools on the desk in front of her at me. I stop beside her desk and look down at her.

“I’m here for you, jail bait.” She scoffs.

“How fitting is that name now, huh?” I cringe.

“I never should have doubted you, Alexa. I was an idiot for ever thinking you would do that but I won’t lie, a small part of me did wonder if you were playing me.”

She sighs and her shoulders slump. “I told you last night that I was sorry for everything I did to you. I fucking told you I loved you, Corvin, and I’ve never told anyone that before.” Guilt wars inside me. I reach out and grip her face between my hands and rest my forehead against hers. Neither of us say a word for a moment as we just breathe each other in and relish the feeling of being together.

“I’m sorry, jail bait.”

“I didn’t do it, Corvin.” I see it in her eyes, she may not have done it but she knows who did.

“Who did it?”

She inhales unsteadily. “Jason threatened to post the pictures if I didn’t give him money. I thought he was bluffing. I swear if I knew he was actually serious I would have paid the fucking money to save you this trouble.” Anger courses through me, I forgot all about that son of bitch and her telling me he was here.

“Where is he?” I snarl.

“I have no idea, he just pops up randomly.”

“How did he know you were here?” I ask hesitantly, slightly worried that she was the one who told him.

“He tracked my phone,” she whispers. I remain silent for a minute as I try to formulate a plan.

“What classes does he have?” She shakes her head.

“He isn’t a student here. He said he was taking a gap year. His parents cut him off and now he’s broke and can’t feed his habit. He saw a picture of me and you on one of your fan pages.” The jealousy I detect in her tone has me fighting back a smile. “He thought seeing that picture meant I was loaded.”

I place a kiss to her lips and try to smile reassuringly. “It’s okay, baby. I have to do something but I’ll be waiting for you after school.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to make your ex wish his mother swallowed.”

Alexa

I’m on edge all freaking day. My phone is dead, so I haven’t been able to contact Corvin at all to find out what he’s been up to. The moment the professor says we can leave, I’m out of my seat and racing out the front of the building, ready to head back to my dorm, charge my phone and call Corvin. I push through the doors, only to be greeted by a crowd of students. I push through them and try to get the hell out of here but an arm snakes out, grips my wrist and yanks me sideways. I spin around ready to punch whoever the fuck it is for laying hands on me, until I look up and see Corvin.

I look around and now the crowd makes sense, they’re all gathered around to catch a glimpse of the Patriots future QB. “So humble,” I mutter as he smiles for a picture. He throws his head back and laughs, then slings his arm around my shoulders and walks us away from the crowd of thirsty students. It grates on my nerves to see girls flaunt what their mama gave them in front of Corvin. I look up at him to see if he is checking them out, but I’m pleasantly surprised to see his gaze is fixed on me.

“All I see is you, baby.” Well shit, now I’m all warm and fuzzy inside. He walks us out to the parking lot and opens the passenger door for me. Once I’m secured inside, he races around to his side, starts the car and peels out of the lot. Only then am I able to breathe easier. I couldn’t handle having that many people flocking to my feet every day. He drives across campus toward my dorm. After parking, we both climb out and walk hand in hand inside. I admit, it feels kinda nice to not have any reservations about him anymore and just enjoy the fact that he’s my boyfriend. Gah, that is gonna take a minute to get used to saying.

We reach my floor and I fish my key out of my pocket, then step inside my mess of a room. Corvin doesn’t say a word about the state of my room but his facials practically scream his distaste at the mess.
