I got up from the couch. “We did, and that went well. You and Martin should be able to finish things up with them pretty quickly. But since the weekend, Melinda’s had to leave town.”

“For how long?” he asked.

“I don't know?”

He glowered at me. “Did you do something to piss her off?”

I was pretty sure I hadn't, but it wasn't any of his business. I ignored the question and took my seat behind the desk. “Like I said, she's not available.”

Josh smiled at me. “No problem then. Recruit one of those other women you’ve been seeing.”

“It's not that simple.”

He didn't understand the problem. Except for Melinda, I had never seen one of them a second time until I met up with Amy today. I made a point of discarding their phone numbers, if I got them. A second meeting would seem like a date, and a date would seem like it should lead to a relationship, and I wasn't going there.

“Why not?” he asked.

I put my head in my hands. “I’ll figure it out,” I mumbled.

“You better, because Tiffany’s and Springbok are the only additional candidates I see out there right now. If we can't merge one of them in with the food sector business, then the numbers from this morning aren’t going to get better very quickly.”

“Tell me something I don't know.”

How vital Melinda had been to this whole process was now clear. We were toast.Joshwas toast if we missed our numbers this quarter, and I couldn’t let that happen. I owed him my life, and I couldn’t let him down. Sanders was in the bag, but I definitely had to take one last run at Tiffany’s, because Springbok without Melinda would be impossible.

“I’ll call before the end of the day and set up another meeting with the Tiffany’s people, but don’t hold your breath.”

I needed to think of something inventive before we met again.

Amy

Pullingopen the heavy wooden door, I entered Fortini's. I scanned the interior. Apparently I’d beaten Vivienne here, so I got to choose a quiet booth near the back. I told the nice waitress we'd start with two glasses of the house white. I hoped it wouldn’t put me to sleep in my current state.

Vivienne arrived before the wine did. She waved from the door and hustled over.

She slid into the booth across from me with eager eyes. “Tell me all about it. How'd it go?”

“It started okay, but it got all screwed up,” I confessed.

She cocked her head. “You chickened out? Don't tell me you chickened out and didn’t go with him?”

I shook my head. “No, I went.”

Our waitress arrived with the wine, temporarily stopping the inquisition.

“Well, what then? Did he not bring a full set of equipment to the party?” Vivienne asked.

I caught a giggle halfway out of my throat but couldn’t contain my smirk as I recalled the size of Liam’s equipment.

“No, let me guess. Did he have trouble getting hard enough? You know they have pills for that.”

I shook my head. She had always enjoyed twenty questions, so there was no reason to give her a quick set of answers.

“No, nothing like that.” Liam's cock had been hard as steel.

“So he wasn't hung? Too bad. I thought his hands were big enough that it shouldn’t have been a problem.”
