I reach out and turn off the water.

We didn’t have sex last night. We’ve had sex before, so I know what I feel likedown thereafterward. I feel sore. Swollen. But I don’t feel any of that right now, so I definitely didn’t have Dominic’s dick inside me last night.

I appreciate that we didn’t do it while we were both completely wasted. But if Dom’s also feeling better, then we’re gonna change that.

I reach out with my left hand to open the glass shower door. But instead of connecting with the metal handle silently, my hand connects with a clink.

I jerk my hand back and look at my palm.

The lights are low in here, but there’s no missing the thick gold band visible on the underside of my ring finger.

I stare at it.

For three breaths, I stare at the bottom of the ring.

The ring on my wedding ring finger.

My next breath is choppy as I slowly rotate my hand.

The next breath stops altogether.

A giant round-cut diamond stares back at me.

It’s…

I choke on my next breath.

It’s so pretty.

Stunning. Beautiful.

A row of diamonds is inlaid into the wide band, highlighting the large stone.

“Oh my god,” I whisper.

I reach up with my right hand to touch the diamond.

“Oh my god!” I say louder this time.

Because I’m married.

I’m married to Dominic.

CHAPTER12

Val

Dressedin nothing but the black button-down I found hanging in the bathroom, I swing the door open, my towel-dried hair already soaking through the cotton shirt.

Dom is still in the bed, but he’s on his back now, lounging against a pile of pillows with his hands behind his head, blanket around his hips, and his naked torso on display.

My mouth opens and closes.

How is this man real?

Dom’s stomach muscles bunch as though my gaze is affecting him like a touch, and I force my eyes up his body.

I open my mouth again, but I don’t know what to say.
