“Get that, but we’ve lost time with our little sister,” Druid says. “We want her back where she belongs.”

“My daughter, I thought we lost her,” Daghda speaks up, stepping closer to me and nodding toward the women on the beach. “That girl out there. She’s still my little girl, but I can see it in her eyes. She’s been through hell and back.”

“You’ve no idea.” I grunt.

“No, I don’t,” Daghda says. “But you see, she’s still my daughter, and I want to be there for her. However, I also can see that you’re in love with my girl.”

“Yeah, I am.” There’s no denying it, and I wouldn’t even try. “I’d do anything for Nevaeh.”

“Good, then you can find who took her from us,” Daghda states, nodding.

“I already know who took her from you,” I retort, meeting his gaze head-on.

“Who?” Nevaeh’s brothers all ask systematically.

I ignore them and hold Daghda’s attention. “Your brother,” I inform him. The moment I do, I swear, Daghda changes. His features morph into something I’d never seen before, one full of fury and rage. Of betrayal and vengeance.

“Did my daughter say this?”

“Yes, she did,” I confirm.

Daghda looks to his sons and commands, “Call Dearg, tell him to find Dermont. I want him put in a cell and kept there until we get back.”

“Already on it,” Druid remarks, turning away with his phone in hand.

“I want in on killing the bastard,” I state, straightening.

Daghda nods without speaking. Tension radiates off him as he wordlessly agrees.

“You all are welcome to stay here tonight. Tomorrow, we’ve got to conclude business with Romeo before heading back home,” I inform them, though I wish I could send them all away. But knowing they’re my way to the man I want most, I’m not about to bite my nose off.

“Appreciate it,” Banshee grunts as Druid turns back to us.

“Dermont hasn’t been seen. Dearg is going to send a few guys to look for him, but after we left, he took off.”

I stiffen, not liking what I’m hearing. Instead of waiting around, I leave the men standing on the balcony and head for my woman. Knowing this bastard is MIA, I’m not about to let her be out of my reach. There’s been enough shit with women taken at the clubhouse. Nevaeh won’t be going through what they’ve dealt with. I intend to stick to my promise I made her, and that means I’m going to have to fill her in on this bit of news. I’m sure when I tell her, she’s going to flip the fuck out.

CHAPTERFIFTEEN

NEVAEH

“Are you okay?”

It’s a question I’ve been wondering since we returned to the room. The two of us are finally alone.

“Yeah, Sweets, I’m good,” he says, sliding his cut off his shoulders and setting it on the arm of the small couch. His shoulder holster follows, then he reaches over his head and pulls his shirt upward until he has it off and tosses it to the floor. Next, he toes off his boots and drops his jeans, leaving him in nothing more than a pair of black boxers.

I do a body scan, liking everything I see and draw my bottom lip between my teeth, my body taking on a mind of its own.

To say this day has been one hell of a roller coaster barely describes it. We met with Romeo, Maverick and I got even closer in the water, then my family showed. On top of that, I spent a good bit of time alone with my mom, who felt the blame on her shoulders for what I went through, and she doesn’t even know. All she said was she could see it in my eyes. The pain I’ve been through, and she feels sick to her stomach for not being able to do anything about it.

Then while we were on the beach talking, Maverick came down, eyes intense, and anger radiating around him like a hurricane ready to implode itself on the rest of the world. I wanted to ask him then but knew to wait. He informed me my family was going to stay at the house tonight, but tomorrow we’re heading back home.

I didn’t mind going back home. I miss my job at the flower shop, and I know Apricot could use my help. Since she opened the shop, we’ve gotten a lot of business. Plus, I love working with plants. It’s soothing and makes me happy to be able to make something wonderful.

“Are you sure?” I ask, worrying my bottom lip. It’s something I can’t help but do when nervous, it’s either that or I bite it, and watching Maverick right now, it’s not a biting moment. I want to be brazen and touch him. I’ve dreamed of it plenty of times, but I’m not that brave.

Maverick comes to me, eyes locked with mine, and without a word, he picks me up by kneeling a bit and wrapping his arms around my thighs just under my ass and lifting. He turns and carries me over to the bed, where he gently tosses me down, before climbing over me. With his arms caging me in, his hips between my legs, his stomach and chest against mine. It’s yet another thing I’ve wanted him to do. All of this. Everything.
