“Well, how the fuck do we find these fuckers and get Ryann back?” Sabotage snarls. Nostrils flaring.

“Dad,” Fawn murmurs, placing a hand on his arm.

“Not now, sweetheart.” Sabotage steps away from his daughter and shakes his head. “We don’t have time to wait around and figure all this shit out.”

“He’s right.” Grimm grunts, standing behind Apricot as she holds Justin in her arms.

“Well, how are we going to do that?” Nevaeh asks.

“We aren’t gonna do shit,” I declare, narrowing my eyes on my woman. The very thought that she’d ask that shit pisses me off. “You’re gonna let us do what we’ve got to do and stay safe here at the clubhouse.”

Nevaeh bites her lip and fidgets with her hands in front of her.

“I hate to say this,” Peyton speaks up, getting everyone’s attention.

“What is it?” Ice asks his woman.

“They want Nevaeh as much as Ryann. They’ll do anything to get her and if they want Gianna as well, they’ll stop at nothing to find her.”

“Gianna’s good where she’s at,” War states, curling his lip. “It’s been reported to me that she’s been placed in a safe house at the hands of one of the Satan’s Keepers MC members’ cousin, Finnegan.”

“Right, but that won’t stop them from searching for her,” Peyton remarks and looks to Nevaeh. “You know, because you protected both Ryann and me, they’ll stop at nothing to get what they want. Including taking out the club if need be.”

I take in what she’s saying without saying it and curse under my breath.

“So, what we need to do is put Nevaeh in hiding until this is all over with. Until we get Ryann back.”

“I’m not going to into hiding,” Nevaeh snaps, shaking her head. “I won’t do it.”

“Nevaeh, if it means keeping you safe and alive, then that’s what you’ll do,” I remark.

“No, Maverick, I won’t.” She meets my gaze with a determined one of her own, even with tears in her eyes. “I don’t want to go back to hiding and being scared out of my mind. I’ll do whatever you guys want me to, but I don’t want to go away. This is my home.”

I give her words a moment to sink in and nod with a sigh. “You’ll do whatever you’re told to do?”

“Yes,” she whispers, nodding.

“Fine, but warning you now, Nevaeh, if things go further to shit than they are, your ass is going to a safe house. You got me?”

Again, she nods. “I got you.”

“Good.” Pulling her in my arms, I hold her tight and look to Viking and the others. “What’s the plan to find and get Ryann back?”

CHAPTERTWENTY-ONE

NEVAEH

Everyone is on high alert with all of this. The guys, including my brothers and dad, all head into the room they hold church. Viking has declared we’re on full lockdown, meaning none of the ol’ ladies can go anywhere. We’re stuck in the clubhouse and can’t even go outside. I love being outside, it keeps me from thinking of when I wasn’t able to smell the fresh air, but with what’s going on I don’t protest. This scares the hell out of me, I don’t want anything else to happen. At least, no more than it already has.

I told Maverick I’d do anything to not have to go to a safe house and I meant it. So, I’m listening and not going out for fresh air. Not taking the chance of someone seeing me outside this clubhouse. Or taking the chance of someone getting to me on club property.

I’m scared because Ryann’s out there somewhere, and I don’t know what’s happening to her.

Exhausted, I decide to go to Maverick’s room because there’s nothing else I can do right now. Plus, my head is throbbing. When Pirate started talking about the auction and how it had a time frame on it, something clicked in my brain, and I remembered the broker and how he worked with my uncle. The image of them popped in my head and I knew they were related. Brothers.

I feel responsible for what’s happening to my friend and everything else that’s going down.

I sprawl onto Maverick’s bed and close my eyes. It’s been days since I slept alone, and it feels weird.
