Page 19 of Lucky's Streak

“Because I was kidnapped, got away, and I know who they were?” I swallow nervously and ignore the way Lucky’s arms flex around me.

“Part of it,” he agrees, leans forward, eyes narrowing. “But why else? I know you know we fuckin’ found out.”

“Prez,” Lucky calls out, taking his hands from around me.

I take the chance to get up, and he allows it. I get to my feet, release a heavy breath, and brush my fingers through my hair.

“Chelsea,” Nines mutters my name as I start to pace, “start talking.”

I sigh heavily and glance around the table, though I don’t meet any of the guys’ eyes or look at Lucky at all. “Reading the journals, I found loads of information about the Crimson Blood Clan. The way they run. Pick those they want in with them. How they target the ones they want to use. All of it. I was doing my own research into them and was able to find my way in within the organization—”

“The fuck,” Lucky snarls, and I find myself spun around suddenly. “What the hell are you thinking? Putting yourself at risk. Is that why you’ve been working late? Going to the office when you’re off? Told Meadow you were going away for a few days?”

I lick my bottom lip nervously and stare into his rage-filled eyes. “I was helping—”

“Bullshit.” His lips curl, and his features contort with rage. “You were doing shit you knew you shouldn’t do. Put your ass on the line. Didn’t you?”

Those last words came out in a roar directly in my face.

“Lucky,” Blow mutters, having come to stand next to Lucky with his hand on his shoulder. A few others even stand. I’m sure it’s in case they have to lock Lucky down to keep him from doing something he shouldn’t.

Having grown up within the club, I’ve learned members do this when they have to. Hell, I’ve seen them lock Blue down when they all found out about his sister.

“Calm down, brother, and let her explain herself,” Nines grumbles.

Lucky nods but doesn’t take his eyes off me, nor does he loosen the grip on my hips. I’m sure I’ll end up having a bruise there when this is all over with, but I won’t say anything about it.

I lower my gaze to stare at Lucky’s chest. The way it rises and falls rapidly causes my chest to ache. It hurts because I know I’m the reason behind his fury right now.

“Explain,” Lucky orders, his tone gruff and harsh on the one-word command.

“I wanted to help,” I whisper, not looking up. I swallowed my nerves and explained to them what I was up to and how I planned to get in and get the information they needed. “I knew you guys wouldn’t go for it, so I did it on my own.”

“And you didn’t think your actions would affect this club,” Blow growls. “What you did was stupid, reckless. For fuck’s sake, Chelsea, you could’ve gotten yourself killed. You already have a large ass target on your back by making yourself visible to these fuckers.”

“I knew what I was doing,” I quip, defending myself. Slowly, I raise my head, and lift my gaze to Lucky’s, and then glance around the room. “You might not like my choices, but I knew what I was getting into. It was my decision, and I’ll stand by it.”

Lucky releases me and steps back, nostrils flaring. I stare at him in confusion as he reaches in his cut and pulls out a thing of folded papers. “Your chance to make decisions on your own without thinking of the consequences stopped when you didn’t sign these fuckin’ papers, Chelsea. Your actions affect me, your brother, and everyone in this room. You risking yourself to, as you say, ‘help’, fucks with my life,” he sneers. Right in front of me rips up what I’m guessing is the annulment papers he’d given me so long ago.Driver told me he’d given them to Lucky when I asked, and I could’ve kicked him. I was going to finally sign them. Now, I’m going to have to start everything all over again. Lucky drops the torn papers to the floor and steps into me again, his fingers coming up to grip my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. “You’re fuckin’ mine, Chelsea, and your decisions affect me. And I’ll say this once, you try and get those papers drawn up again, I’ll rip them just like I did these. You get me?”

My lips part to answer him, but words don’t come. I can’t speak. Not right now. So many emotions are threatening to take over, and I need to get a handle on them. If not, I won’t be able to deal with him. Not in the way I need to.

I know the kind of man Lucky is, but right now, he has me more confused than ever. First, he wants rid of me, and when I’m finally ready to give him that, he does this . . . declare I’m his.

Finally, I find the courage inside me and narrow my gaze as I breathe out my next words. “And if I don’t get you? What if I don’t want to be yours?”

CHAPTER10

LUCKY

Chelsea’s question sends the rage flowing through my veins into motion. Not that I’d ever hurt a woman, let alone hurt my woman. Still, at this very moment, I’m tempted to strangle the hell out of her.

After she challenged me the way she did, Blow told everyone to get out. Said we’d talk later once we all cooled off then he ordered me to the gym. He saw my anger for what it was, and he knows me. They all do. If I didn’t calm down, I’d do something stupid that could fuck things up more than they already are.

Usually, I use sex to tamp down the raging emotions inside me, but I can’t do that now. Not when it’s Chelsea I’m pissed with. And I’m not about to fuck another woman. I made the decision not to fight what we have, and I meant it. It’s why I’m slamming my fist against the punching bag with Blow, Nines, and Shiner standing off to the side, eyes on me while Torch holds the bag in place.

“Brother, you gonna calm down so we can talk about this shit?” Blow asks.

“You gonna tell me I didn’t handle shit right?” I throw a punch as I ask my own question.
