I find his number, lift my phone to my ear, and wait for him to answer, which he does on the third ring.

“Baby, now’s not a good time.”

“Sorry. I can call back,” I murmur, kicking myself for not just texting him. “I just wanted to fill you in on something that just happened.”

“What happened? You’re still at the clubhouse, right?” he demands tersely.

“Yes, I’m in the kitchen for your information,” I say somewhat snippy. “I came in here to get a drink and Lacey followed me.”

“Jesus, fuck, what did that bitch do now?”

“Well, evidently, she told me that I needed to leave you and that you were hers. She also informed me she knew who you were and said I trapped you when I didn’t sign the papers and a whole bunch of other shit.”

I’m met with silence on the other end of the line for a long period of time, and if not for his breathing being heard, I would have thought he hung up.

“Did anyone else hear her?”

“No, I’m in here alone. She’s now back out there doing God knows what, but probably ogling Calyx’s men like every other female body in the main room.”

“Ogling?”

I hear someone say, and I realize he must have me on speaker.

Great.

“So, anyway, I just wanted to let you know. I didn’t mean to interrupt—”

I don’t get to finish because between one moment and the next, all hell breaks loose. It does this in the way of my surroundings exploding, and I’m knocked down, losing my phone. My ears are ringing and my vision blurs. The last thing I see fully is men rushing around. Men firing guns. My head drops on debris and I close my eyes, the pain radiating through my body is more than I can handle.

But before the darkness consumes me, I hear a deep voice as my body is lifted, “Tell the boss I’ve got the bitch, and he can be happy.”

CHAPTER18

LUCKY

“Chelsea. Baby. Come on, answer me,” I shout, hearing the gunfire and having heard the explosion.

We all heard it, thanks to me having the phone on speaker for everyone to hear what Lacey had said. Keys has cameras throughout the clubhouse except in the members’ rooms. He can confirm what she says, but Chelsea’s not one for lying or bullshitting. She says it like it is and doesn’t keep anything back, so we all know she wouldn’t when it comes to something like this either.

Blow and Nines gave Lacey her one and only warning. Her having confronted Chelsea the way she did and her fucked up reasons is enough for us to kick her to the fucking curb. I personally think she needs a stint in a looney bin. Or maybe just put completely out of her misery altogether.

But my mind keeps going to what happened I just heard over the phone. My lungs seize, and I feel my gut, a terror unlike anything threatens to choke me.

“Let’s go,” Blow snarls, though he doesn’t need to.

We’re all heading for our bikes. It’s not just my woman we’re worried about. Blow’s woman and kids. Nines’s woman. Fucking Sniper’s woman, Rain. All of the ol’ ladies were supposed to be safe and sound at the clubhouse with the brothers we left there, along with Nines, who got Calyx to call in his men. They should’ve been safe. Secure.

My mind whirls with thoughts of what we could end up finding.

If not for the meet we couldn’t miss regarding the Crimson Blood Clan, I sure as fuck wouldn’t have left Chelsea alone. I’m still not over what the fuck happened with her being kidnapped. Doesn’t matter to me that she got away from them. She was taken, and I could have lost her. Now, I could have lost her all over again, and we’d just gotten our shit together.

It takes us nearly thirty minutes to get back to the clubhouse when it would have normally taken forty-five. Upon seeing the building, my stomach tightens significantly, and my heart plummets.

I barely get the kickstand down before I’m off the back of my bike and rushing toward the others. Sniper is hovering over Storm, Rain, and Meadow alongside Calyx. Storm’s holding all three of her kids in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks. Several of my brothers are wounded as others see to them.

“What the fuck happened?” Blow demands.

“Where’s Chelsea?” I snarl, glancing around.
