Page 42 of Lucky's Streak

Lucky comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist, hands against my still-flat stomach. “We’re gonna be late if you don’t hurry up.”

“What if I want to be late?” I question, smiling as his eyes meet mine again in the mirror.

“You know we can’t, baby, even if I want nothing more than to be.” Grinning, he trails his hand between my legs, fingers sliding through the juices already coating my lower lips. “Jesus, fuck, brat, just fucked you for hours, and you’re still sopping wet for me.”

“That’s because I always want you.” I moan, tilting my hips hoping to get him to do more.

Then bend over, baby, and I’ll give you what you want,” he states, pulling his fingers from between my legs.

I do as he says, and he goes about doing what I want—giving me everything I want. Him.

Together we walk into the clubhouse. I halt my steps, my feet fumbling under me, when I notice the woman standing not too far from Shiner. She’s beaten and bruised. I know who she is because she works for my office. I’d just hired her a few months back. But she’d also been missing for the past two weeks.

Olive.

What is she doing here? How did she get hurt?

I don’t get to ask because between one moment and the next, Shiner explodes. I mean, full-on yells, getting in her face.

“Bullshit, Olive, what game are you playing at? Coming here? Knowing what Sasha did? You’re up to something, and I don’t believe you came here for anything other than to play more fuckin’ games.”

“Brother, calm down,” Blow orders, stepping in front of Olive. “Let’s hear her out. You just got to remember she’s not Sasha.”

Who’s Sasha?

Is that Milo’s mom?

The guys don’t talk about it, but I know something happened with a fire and Milo being rescued from it by Scorn and Torch, who were working that night with the volunteer firefighters. They saved Shiner’s son that night. I also know Shiner’s very protective over the kid and doesn’t leave him unless it’s with Rain or one of us. I can’t blame him for that because I totally agree with him. Though, we did talk him into letting Milo go to daycare a couple days a week. It’ll give him the social interaction he needs. If I’m not mistaken, today was supposed to be the first day.

My hand goes over my stomach protectively as Lucky moves us deeper into the room.

“What’s going on here?” Lucky asks, holding me close.

Olive’s gaze comes to mine, and she gives me a pleading look. “I’m sorry,” she whispers, her voice nearly inaudible. “I didn’t know where else to go.”

“Bullshit,” Shiner sneers.

“Olive,” I murmur her name. I start forward, but Lucky stops me, pulling me into his arms. “What happened to you? Why haven’t you been at work?”

“I . . . I. . .”

“Don’t even try to come up with a lie, Olive,” Shiner snarls.

“I’m not going to lie,” Olive says, and I believe her. One thing I’ve learned over the years is when someone’s a bullshitter or not. Olive is definitely not one for lying. She doesn’t have the poker face for it. I’m willing to bet she wears her emotions on her sleeve.

“What happened, Olive?” I ask again, Storm and Meadow both joining me.

Olive looks between us and starts fidgeting her hands together. “I . . . I was taken from the office after work,” she announces before she stops fidgeting, only to wrap her arms around her middle. “I don’t remember much other than being hurt and tormented, but I was given a message to give you all.”

“What message?” Blow demands.

Olive takes a step back and drops her gaze. “That he hasn’t forgotten what you did. That he will get what belongs to him. The Crimson Blood Clan will grow again, and this time will take you all.” She lifts her eyes back up and looks at Shiner. “It wasn’t only him who did this to me. But also Sasha.”

Oh shit.

The tension intensifies in the room, and I know whatever is about to happen next isn’t going to be good. I also know that the club will do whatever it has to make sure we’re safe. My man especially will look after me. He’s on a winning streak, and he’s not one for losing.
