“That’s so cool,” the bride says on a breath. “Sure, we’ll help you get out of here, but I’ll say this now,” she points to the one with the cop for a husband, “her husband is my brother, and we will be calling him when we get back on the bus.”

“That’s fine with me. Long as I get away from baboons one and two,” I agree. “Thank you.”

“You do a good deed, and karma makes sure to return the favor,” the second girl says. “Now, let’s get moving.”

Nodding, I sigh, thankful as they surround me. Two of them are super tall with the heels they’re wearing, shielding me as we head back out. I’m not surprised that they’re on a party bus, and when we get to it, we all load up and the driver pulls out.

Taking a seat, I look out the window and spot the two men right off. “See those two?” I point out, talk to the girls. Baboons one and two were now searching for me and looking pissed. “They’re the ones who kidnapped me.”

“We should call the police on this,” the bride says.

“Please don’t. If I can just use the phone, I’ll make a call and will be out of your hair in no time.”

“Are you sure?” the one married to the cop asks.

“Yeah, I’m sure. We get far enough away, I’ll call my brother and let him know where I am. He’ll come pick me up.”

“Okay, we’re heading to Vegas to celebrate, so if you want, you can tag along and call from there. By the way, my name’s, Marcy,” she says, introducing herself and then everyone else. They are Paula (the cop’s wife), Kimmy (the second girl who talked to me), Caty (one of the super tall girls), Rebecca (the other super tall girl), and Tina (she hadn’t spoken).

“I’m Chelsea. I really do appreciate you all doing this.”

“It’s no problem, but we’re still telling my husband,” Paula declares.

“Totally get it.” I nod and settle into the cushy seat to bide my time. I’ll make the call when we stop again, then I’ll let them get on their way to Vegas and back to their celebration. I hate that I jumped right in the midst of things for them, but I’m happy they helped me.

Two hours later, we stopped again, and I finally take Marcy’s phone from her to make the call needed. But it’s not to my brother.

I put the phone to my ear and listen to the ringing, holding my breath.

“Yeah?” Lucky answers, sounding somewhat annoyed.

“Well, hey there, stud,” I mutter, rolling my eyes.

“Chelsea?”

I don’t miss the surprise in his voice, and it fills my stomach with butterflies. “The one and same.”

“What the fuck, Chels? Where the hell are you?” Now, he sounds pissed. “And who the hell’s phone are you calling me from?” Totally pissed.

“Well, you see, I was kidnapped and—”

“No shit, Chelsea,” he growls, interrupting me. “Lose the sarcasm and start talking.”

“Calm down there, big boy, and I’ll tell you,” I snap and look over at the other girls who start laughing.

“Talk now, babe. I’m this close to losing my shit with you,” Lucky growls harshly.

“Is that so?” I roll my eyes and lean back into the seat. “Anyway, I was kidnapped at the hospital and got away at a rest stop, where I hitched a ride with a bachelorette party heading to Vegas. Now, we’re stopped so the driver can fill up. Then they’re back on the road, and I’m gonna go sit in the diner while you call my brother and ask him to come get me.”Silence meets me on the other end of the phone, and I wonder for a moment if we’ve gotten disconnected. “Lucky, you there?”

“Yeah, I’m here,” he bites out. “Let me get this straight, you were kidnapped, got away, and now, you’re with a bachelorette party?”

“You got it all in one, well, except the part I’m going to hang at a diner while you call my brother and get him to come get me,” I state with a matter-of-fact tone.

“Why didn’t you call him?” he asks.

“Well, I figured calling you would kill two birds with one stone,” I inform him.
