“You’ll be going back to Tennessee, brat, and you’ll be doing it with me,” I state loud enough and make my way toward them. Eyes focused on Chelsea as she spins around to stare at me with that glare of hers.

“Who says I’m going anywhere with you?” she demands.

“No one, baby, but that don’t mean you aren’t,” I inform her.

“No, I’m not, and you can’t make me,” she snaps and turns her attention to her brother and cousin. “And you can’t lock me down. I won’t have it. I think I proved I can handle myself.”

“Yeah, you can handle yourself, Chelsea,” Grinder growls, eyes narrowed.

“Doesn’t mean shit don’t happen,” Driver remarks. “Just because you got away from the two who took you, doesn’t mean there won’t be more of them coming after you. Next time it could be more than just them kidnapping you.”

“You don’t think I know this?” Chelsea huffs and drops her hands from her hips, and points at herself. “I’m the one who was taken. I know what kind of baboon idiots we’re dealing with.”

“How did you get away from them?” Wrecker asks and takes a sip of his beer. The man’s built to match his name, he’s as big a wrecker and all muscle. It’s no wonder he’s the enforcer for their charter.

“I told them that if they didn’t let me go pee, I’d pee in the back of the car. Which I totally had to go.”

Of course, she’d say something like that. The woman is insufferable and a total pain in the ass. She’s also a damn smartass who has more sass than common sense sometimes.

Ignoring everyone around us, I move directly to Chelsea. I spin her to face me, secure one arm at her waist, and use the other to grip her chin.

“Lucky,” she hisses.

“Shut it, brat, you need to quick with the fuckin’ attitude and sassing off.” I tilt my head just enough to get directly in her face. “You need to see the seriousness of this shit and take that in. Something worse could have happened to you.”

“Don’t you think I know that?” Chelsea plants her hands on my chest and shoves though it’s pointless. “The assholes took me at gunpoint, for God’s sake. I think I know the seriousness of this. And don’t call me a brat.”

“You act like one, that’s exactly what I’m gonna call you, baby,” I scoff.

“Well, don’t call me that either. I’m not either to you.”

“I beg to differ.” I grin, tightening my arm around her, dropping her chin in order to tangle my fingers in those soft silk locks of hers. “I know you didn’t sign the papers,” I whisper. “We’ll get into that later, but I’d say that makes you mine. Doesn’t it, brat?”

“Fuck you,” she sneers, shoves against me once more and levels one of those glares of hers on me. But I don’t miss the shock at the knowledge I know what I know. “Let me go.”

“Not a chance.” Holding her this close, there’s no way I way in hell I’m about to let her loose, not even with her cousin and brother standing close by. “You’re gonna chill the fuck out, lose the attitude and talk to us about what happened.”

“No, I’m not. I’m going to go get in my car and go back to the hospital where my mom is. After that, I’m heading back home to Tennessee. I have a job to get back to.”

I watch the way her eyes flicker, and I know behind all that beauty her mind is working overtime to come up with whatever she’s planning next.

Tightening my grip on her hair and around her waist, I yank her flush against me and dip down farther to get right in her face, nose to nose. “I’ll take you to see your mom, and I intend to get your ass back home. First, though, it’s late. You need to lose the attitude. We’re gonna get some rest, then tomorrow morning your ass is telling us what the hell happened.”

Chelsea tenses, but she doesn’t respond with words. Only nods though her eyes narrow to thin slits. If looks could kill I’m sure she’d be trying to do just that.

“I gotta admit, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone handle Chels that firm without her busting their balls,” Grinder grunts, breaking up the moment.

“Remember, Chelsea’s my sister and your cousin,” Driver remarks through gritted teeth.

Releasing Chelsea’s hair, I twist her, so she’s tucked into my side. “She’s your sister, yeah, but she’s mine, and until she’s not mine anymore, you can get the hell over the bullshit. We’ve got other shit, more important to deal with, so you can let it go,” I say looking directly at Driver, keeping my eyes locked with his.

I’m not about to back down on this, and she needs to get it through her head that I’m not playing.

Not when it comes to her or any of this shit.
