“I want to see your face,” I whisper.

I thrust into her from behind and grab her hips. When our bodies collide, they become one. Her breaths fog the mirror. I moan into her ear and I can’t tell the difference between her sounds and mine.

Covering her mouth with my hand, I feel that undeniable urge to let go. I can’t hold back much longer.

“I’m going to come,” I whisper while I’m inside of her.

“Me too,” she whispers back.

The absolute shock of the impact of her words takes my breath away. I have to grab onto the counter for support, or I’ll fall on top of her. Pleasure shoots through me. Roaring in the dark, I come harder than ever. My body jerks out of my control, pushing me deeper and deeper.

When I lick the sweat from the back of her neck, I suddenly remember there’s a party outside.

“No, go over there,” Trixie says.

I force a smile. “Here?”

The girl rolls her eyes. “Am I pointing there? No. I’m pointing up there. Go.”

Delia murmurs, “The paycheck. Think about the paycheck.”

“I know,” I tell her as I grab the other lens from her.

“What do you need that one for?” the client asks. “I thought—

“Different angle, different lighting, different lens sometimes, Trixie.”

“Whatever. Just get it right.”

The snotty teenager poses for her fake candid shots while I climb up the tree. The Hudson River Palisade cliffs are photogenic as hell, so I understand why she wanted to do a photoshoot out there, but after the long drive and dealing with her attitude, I am close to calling it a day with or without the paycheck.

After getting fired a couple weeks ago, though, I don’t want to get a reputation for being a photographer who can’t do the job, so I’m stuck between a Trixie and a cliff.

Delia lights her for the shot, offering, “Did you know these cliffs were the sight of eighteen documented duels?”

The teen frowns up at her. “Did you know no one cares?”

Delia grits her jaw and also forces a smile. “How many followers did you say you had again?”

“Five-hundred thousand,” she says, like that’s impressive.

“You’re almost Kylie Jenner with those numbers,” Delia says sarcastically.

“Kylie has nothing on me.” She strikes another pose. But then she frowns at me. “You’re not in the right spot for what I want.”

“You said here. I climbed the tree—

“No, over there. No, there.”

“At the edge of the cliff?” I ask, butterflies in my stomach.

“That’s where this shot will look the best from, so yeah,” she says haughtily.

I gulp, climb down, and edge my way to where she wants me this time. My heart races. Am I really going to let this girl bully me into it? But Delia is the constant reminder of my responsibility. I have to pay her. And me, but I can’tnotpay my only employee. Suck it up! I say to myself.
