‘And Alex helped mine find herself.’ Hannah smiled at her best friend.

‘Well, aren’t we lucky?’ Emma said with a chuckle.

They really were. Their lives were nothing short of perfect. Not in the stiff photo-snapshot way that Matt’s had been, but rather that they got to be themselves. Loved unconditionally for who they were.

Hannah had found a job without much trouble at all four months after Oliver’s birth—without Matt having to step in—and her career was soaring, with her now managing a team of developers. Command Technologies had continued its skyward trajectory with Matt at the helm. He no longer hid his feelings away. Matt was wholly and completely himself and he was happy.

They were happy. Content in this incredible life.

Hannah and Emma watched their husbands help both boys out of the water, dry them off and slip a towel-poncho over their heads. Alex, with his son perched on his shoulders, and Matt, giving a piggy-back to Oliver—who had a shock of blond hair and green eyes to match his dad’s—walked over to their table. Droplets of water fell from Matt’s blond hair, running down his sculpted body. Even after all this time, the sight made Hannah’s mouth turn dry. Green eyes winked at her, and he gave her his most wicked smirk. Truly there had never been a sexier man to grace this planet.

A ring sounded through the house.

‘That must be Sarah,’ Hannah said.

‘I’ll get it. I need to put the baby down anyway,’ Emma offered. Alex, carrying their son, turned to follow his wife when Oliver wriggled off his father’s back.

‘I wanna come too!’ he announced excitedly.

‘Come on then, Squirt.’ Alex held out his hand, which Oliver held tightly, and off they went, leaving Hannah and Matt alone with their baby daughter who was now fast asleep. Hannah tucked her into the nearby bassinet and was then pulled against Matt’s hard, wet body. His lips trailed down her neck, making Hannah shiver and sigh.

‘Is it bad that I want to kick everyone out and take you to bed right now?’ he whispered in her ear.

‘Yes.’ Hannah spun around in his arms. ‘But I’d like that too, husband!’ She grinned.

‘Hmm...’ said Matt. ‘Looks like we’ll have to make do with a bit of this, wife.’ He slid his fingers into Hannah’s hair, tilting her face up to his, and covered her lips with his. He tasted of mint and chlorine and Hannah couldn’t help but moan into his mouth.ª

‘I love that sound,’ he said, voice low.

‘I love you.’ And how! This man, her little family, was more than she could ever have wished for. She’d been so wrong before. Wishes weren’t ridiculous. They were dreams that you needed to work a little harder to make a reality.

Matt smiled against her lips, kissing her again.
