She liked a top. She wouldn’t say she wanted a truly dominant partner in her normal life, but she appreciated being able to sink into submission. It was what she’d been missing with her fiancé. Well, that and actual love that included faithfulness and the fact that her parents and siblings and friends loathed him.

She wasn’t thinking about him tonight.

“What did you mean by calling me Sir?” Dare’s tone was far more demanding than she’d heard this evening. And he suddenly looked taller than he had before.

It was good to know she could surprise him. “I’ll tell you everything you want to know if we can walk away from here right now. Unless you want my sister to tag along. Because she will.”

He would think she meant Lou, but Tash was far more worried about Kala. Lou would retrieve her earpiece from the plant and probably go back to the safe house and be quiet in that way she always was after she talked to TJ. Tash was almost one hundred percent certain his was the number that had flashed on the screen of her cell phone. Lou’d had a massive crush on Tasha’s cousin TJ Taggart since they were kids, and TJ was an asshole who kept her on a string. That was probably harsh, but TJ always gave Lou just enough to keep her close.

Lou would trust that she knew what she was doing, but Kala would follow her and watch her like a freaking hawk, and Tasha had done a lot to have one last night of freedom.

“I do not.” There was a tightness to Dare’s tone as he put a hand on her elbow and started to lead her away. When they got to the street, he held out a hand to hail a taxi. “Now tell me what you meant.”

He was going to be so serious. It was funny because he hadn’t been in the pub. He’d been light and focused on her in a way that made her flirty. She wondered how the other half of the man would look at her, how the Dom would focus on her like a predator about to catch a hearty meal. The thought made a delicious shiver go up her spine. “What club do you play at?”

“Club?” His hand fell and a taxi drove by. He practically growled and seemed determined to catch the next one. “Are you talking about a D/s club? How do you know about D/s clubs?”

She found it interesting that he referred to it as a D/s club and not a BDSM club. There was a difference between Dominance and submission and a club that focused more on bondage and sadomasochism. It was good he seemed to understand the subtlety because she was definitely more on the D/s side. Not that she’d had much D/s sex. Or sex at all. She was a founding member of a club—and it was not a rat-infested hellhole like her father said—and she’d only been a dozen times. “I pretty much grew up in one. Well, not in one. That sounds weird. I didn’t like hang out there when people were playing. I did make a lot of money babysitting for those people though. My parents are a D/s couple. Not 24/7, but it’s definitely part of their life.”

A silver taxi pulled up and just in time because she caught a glimpse of Kala stalking out of the bar, her eyes narrowed as she started to look around, searching for her.

Dare opened the door and Tasha slid inside, scooting all the way over so he could tuck his big body in next to hers. “We’re going to the Dolphin.”

So he was staying at a hotel on the beach, and a nice one at that. There would be lots of CCTVs there for her sisters to track her on, and she had no doubt they would. She was sure Kala had already figured out where she was going. Not that she needed to ask. They all had trackers implanted in various places on their bodies at the insistence of their overly protective father.

I track the puppies I don’t give a shit about, Tash. I’m damn straight going to track my daughters. You could have avoided this if you hadn’t wanted to be a spy.

She wondered about that. She wouldn’t put it past her father to have secretly implanted a tracker on her as a child.

Still, she felt some sense of independence as the driver took off, turning down the road that ran right past the pub. Her sister shot her the bird as she drove past. Tasha merely waved as Kala rolled her eyes and stalked back inside.

So she would keep her distance. For a while.

“You didn’t answer my question.” She was ready to focus on Dare. “Do you have a home club?”
