"Go for it."

She’d thought about putting music on while they ate dinner, but she didn’t know if that was too much. Like she was trying to be romantic, and it was really just a wham, bam, thank you ma’am situation.

Soft music started playing, and Laura instantly recognized the song as Ed Sheeran’s "Thinking Out Loud."

Knox stood and reached out his hand to her. She’d always seen in movies and books characters slow dancing in the kitchen. Until that moment, she hadn’t even known that it was a fantasy of hers. But as she slid her hand in his, she stood, and he pulled her into his embrace. A fantasy she hadn’t even known she had was coming true.

With each swayof their bodies, Laura melted into him. Her curves pressed against him, sending his brain urgent messages that he was ignoring. As much as he wanted to pick her up, carry her into her room, toss her on her bed, strip her naked, and put a baby in her, he knew that she wasn’t quite ready for that.

The energy between them was crackling with attraction, but he sensed she still had some nerves. As much as he wanted to feel and taste her, he wasn’t going to rush this. He had all the time in the world, and the only place he wanted to be was right there, in Laura’s kitchen, holding her in his arms.

His hand ran up and down her back, and he felt her tremble. Her head rested on his chest, and he was sure that she must be able to hear his heart pounding wildly. His chin dipped, and he kissed her on the top of the head, "You are so beautiful."

"You don’t have to say that." Laura stepped back. "Seriously, I’m a sure thing. It’s going to happen. We can just go…do it." Her arms flailed in the air.

She was saying that they could just go "do it," but her body language was telling him a different story. The last thing that Knox wanted was for Laura to wake up tomorrow with any regrets. "Are you okay? We don’t have to do anything tonight. Or any night. Not if you’re not ready."

Her eyes met his, and she shook her head. "No. I just… I’m not used to feeling like this."

"Like what?"

Her eyes closed, and she swallowed audibly. "Um, you know, nervous and..."

"Nervous and what?" He could hear his voice drop an octave. It did that when he was turned on. And right now, he was about as turned on as he’d ever been.

She lifted her eyes. "And aroused."

He couldn’t help but grin. "You don’t get aroused?"

She shook her head. "Not like this. Not like I feel with you. Most of the sex I’ve had was a distant second to a glass of wine, a hot bath, and a good book."

"Well, then, you’ve been having sex with the wrong people."

"I’m not going to argue with you on that." Her eyes met his again. "But I’m guessing this... chemistry…is…normal… for you."

He could see the insecurity in her eyes, and it broke his heart wide open. She was special, and he would make sure she knew that, even if it meant admitting something embarrassing.

"No. It’s not normal. Nothing has been normal since I met you. You broke me. I haven’t been able to jerk off to anything but you."

She rolled her eyes and started to look away, but he reached up and cupped her jaw, turning her face back toward him. When he did, he noticed that the flush was back in her cheeks, and she took a sharp breath. She liked it when he took charge. He made a note of that.

"The night you showed me the apartment, I got a text from a woman I’ve had phone sex with for the past few years. I was already hard because I’d been thinking of you, so I thought it was great timing. But as soon as I saw it, my boner went down. I ignored her call. I tried to think about all the hottest, dirtiest things I could to get myself hard again, but I was as limp as a noodle until that damn lavender scent drifted through the air and I remembered you bending over in front of me when you dropped your keys, and bam, I was rock hard again."

Laura licked and then bit her bottom lip, and Knox held in a male groan of appreciation. "So have you been...?"

"Jerking off thinking about you?" he finished her question. "Yes. Every day. Sometimes a few times a day."

"Really?" Her eyes widened as a blush filled her cheeks.

"Yes. Really," he assured her. "So no, it’s not like this with other people for me either."

"Oh." She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her body against him. "That’s…nice."

"No." Knox shook his head as his hands trailed down her back to her ass. Her ample cheeks filled his palms, and he squeezed. "It’s not nice. It’s not nice at all. You have been driving me fucking crazy." He bent his fingers, massaging her backside. "I feel like a teenager around you. I get hard at inappropriate times. When you marched your sexy ass off the dancefloor at the wedding, I had to duck behind a table to adjust myself so no one noticed how hard my cock was."

Her eyes lifted to his as her breathing grew more and more shallow. "I didn’t know that you were hard when I left."
