Kennedy felt her cheeks flush. “I just… I mean…I sort of met someone.”

“You did?!” Laura clapped. “Who? Where? Who?”

“No, I didn’t meet someone, meet someone. I was just at Well Brook sitting on a bench, and he came around the corner. I had just got a cup of water and I was standing up when he was coming around the corner and I spilled it on him. Then, he was all wet…” Kennedy moved her hand over her lap. “So, I grabbed a towel off the housekeeping cart and started drying him.”

“You dried his parts?!” Laura asked.

“I did,” Kennedy admitted. “He had to grab my wrist to stop me.”

Laura’s head fell back as she laughed. When she recovered, she looked back at Kennedy. “Then what did you do? What did you say?”

“Nothing really. I was just sort of…I don’t know.”

“Wait, do you like him?”

“No.” Kennedy shook her head. “I mean, I don’t even know him so I can’t like him but I was definitely…he was ridiculously hot.”

“Wet crotch guy is hot?”

“Yes. Very hot.”

“Did you talk to him? Who is he? What’s his name?”

“I didn’t…I was going to but then…my dad showed up.”

Laura’s face dropped. “Oh no.”

“Yeah.”

“Then what did you do?”

Kennedy’s shoulder lifted in a shrug. “I left.”

Laura nodded in understanding. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. I don’t think he was the one, or anything.” But I sure wish he was.

“Still, it sucks.”

Kennedy’s phone vibrated and she saw that it was Shelly Baker. She was a new client of Kennedy’s who wanted to go and see a property again that she’d shown her the day before. She was in from out of town, so Kennedy couldn’t reschedule.

“Oh shoot, raincheck on lunch. I have to go show a house.”

“No worries. Oh, actually, I was going to ask if you’re still going to be in the city tomorrow?”

“Yeah, I have the conference until noon.”

“Perfect. Do you want to meet for lunch at one? I’m going to be there looking at dresses.”

“At dresses?” Laura was planning on getting married a few months after she had the babies, so Kennedy wasn’t sure why she’d go all the way to Chicago to look at dresses when she was seven and a half months pregnant. She figured maybe she just wanted to get out of town before the babies arrived because it would be hard for her to do it after.

“Yeah, just to get an idea.”

“Sure. Yeah, just send me the address.” Kennedy gave Laura a hug and headed out.

As she drove out of the parking lot an image of those deep brown eyes flashed in her head. She still couldn’t get over the feeling that she’d seen him before. Or that she knew him. Maybe it was just that she’d dreamt about him because he was her perfect physical type. Tall, dark, hot, and tattooed.

Who was she kidding, he was most women’s perfect physical type.
