Page 46 of Crashing Into You

Unable to speak, she nodded in silent agreement.

He continued to thrust, sliding in and out of her with a steady, forceful pace. Each time he did, she felt her body get closer and closer to going over the edge again. As much as she wanted this night to last forever, she could feel from the tension in his body and the pulse of his cock inside of her that he was close to coming.

Knowing that she wanted to be with him when he did, she shifted her hand between their bodies where they were intimately connected. Her finger gently grazed her sensitized clit once and then twice before she closed her eyes as another wave of release washed over her.

As she rode out the ecstasy, she felt Seb surge inside of her once more, deeper, harder than he had before. His entire body tensed as she reached the peak of her orgasm. Knowing that they were both experiencing the same sensual gratification only served to heighten her pleasure.

She was still quaking with aftershocks when she felt Seb shift to the side of the couch and move his arm under her back. She opened her eyes just before he moved her so that she was on top of him and he was beneath her. Her naked body molded to his as she snuggled against him, resting her head on his chest. His heart was beating loudly against her cheek as he ran his fingers through her hair.

Her eyes closed as she basked in the intimacy bubble, they were floating in. “Thank you. For tonight.”

“Tonight’s not over,” he rasped.

His statement was a threat wrapped up in a promise, one that she was looking forward to him keeping.

“How are you feeling?”Kennedy asked her bestie through the speakers as she drove to Well Brook to see her grandma.

“Good. Tired,” Laura responded.

“Do they know how long they’re going to keep you?”

“I think a few days. I’m not sure.”

“How are the babies?”

“Perfect,” Laura replied dreamily.

In the background, Kennedy could hear the voices of Laura’s family talking and laughing. She knew that Laura and the twins had a ton of visitors between Laura’s large family, Knox’s relatives, and the entire population of Whisper Lake. She didn’t want to overwhelm her bestie, but she did want to stop by and see her and the babies. Even if that meant going to the hospital.

“Is it okay if I drop by later? Just for a few minutes?” Kennedy asked.

“Of course!” Laura immediately replied.

Her friend’s enthusiastic response warmed Kennedy from the inside out.

“Okay, I’m headed to see Nana and then I have a showing, but I’ll see you in a few hours.”

“See you then.”

Kennedy disconnected the call as she drove down the oak-lined road to the senior home and a thrum of awareness vibrated through her. It had been there since the night before. The moment Seb touched her he awakened every cell in her body. She would have thought the effect would have worn off by now, but she could still feel the awareness permeating her entire body.

When she woke up this morning, even before she opened her eyes, she knew that Sebastian was gone. She knew that she was alone. It was better that way. She’d asked for one night, not forever. The expectations were clear, and she knew she shouldn’t feel disappointed, yet…she did.

That feeling lingered until she walked into her kitchen and found that a fresh pot of coffee had been made. Lying on the counter beside the coffee maker was a paper towel with a drawing of her, or at least she thought it was her, sleeping in bed with the word MINE written in old English cursive.

As she stood in the kitchen staring at that paper towel, she knew if she wasn’t careful, she was going to fall in love. She was actually scared she was halfway there already. Last night had been…intense in ways she’d never experienced before. Unlike some of her friends who rated most sex lower than a hot bath and a glass of wine, Kennedy had always had a healthy appreciation for sex. Some encounters were better than others, but to her, they were like chocolate, always good. Being with Seb was so much better than good. It raised the bar so high that she feared no one else would ever be able to match it. His touch had recalibrated her body and she was concerned no other man would ever be able to satisfy her again.

As she parked, the question she’d been pondering all morning still lingered in her mind. Was one night of mind-blowing, soul-fusing pleasure worth a lifetime of settling for less? That was a question that could only be answered in time.

The sun was shining brightly in the mid-morning sky as she walked up the steps to Well Brook. There was a slight breeze in the air causing the leaves of the surrounding trees to rustle quietly beneath the sounds of birds chirping happily.

Everything had a dream-like quality to it. It felt like she was in her very own Disney movie. Everything appeared to be in Technicolor. The sky was bluer. The trees were greener. She’d never taken any mind-altering drugs, but she imagined this was what they might make her feel like.

“Morning, sunshine!” Marlene beamed from behind the counter.

“Morning!” Kennedy smiled widely as she stepped up to sign in and the phone rang.
