“Sure am.” I grinned, wiggling my eyebrows. “I told you we’d start every day this way and since the alarm will go off soon anyway, we start now.” I looked around. “You got a razor?”

“Zeke, we can’t—”

“We can. We are. Now tell me where the razor is and get up on the counter. Don’t make me spank that pretty ass.”

Her cheeks turned red, but she quickly got up on the counter. “There’s a new razor in the cabinet. Second shelf.”

I got what I needed, along with a washcloth and soap from the shower and turned to find her spread out like a fucking feast. God damn, she was perfect. I didn’t even care about her damn pubes—I’d eat that pussy any chance I got, no matter how much hair there was—I just enjoyed being able to do something so intimate with her. It also reminded me of that first night together.

The first of many, I hoped as I dropped to my knees in front of her.

I’d never been to California.

Hell, I’d never even been on a plane.

Yet two weeks after Aunt Meg’s stent surgery, we were here.

Zeke had sent a car service to pick us up, saying he would be waiting at the house. He’d found a rehab facility where Aunt Meg would stay for the next two weeks, but we were going to his house first so we could meet his family. She was doing incredibly well since the surgery, so I was beginning to feel comfortable with this new development in my life. All of our lives.

As I’d predicted, Aunt Meg thought it was a great idea. She was excited to visit California, meet Zeke’s family, and have what she was jokingly calling her mid-life adventure, instead of a mid-life crisis.

Personally, I was a nervous wreck. Flying for the first time had been harrowing, Jeremy had cried for much of the flight, and no matter how many times Zeke promised me his parents were going to love me, I was still worried. If I were in their shoes, I would wonder about this woman who’d slept with my son once and was now moving into his house and his life. Especially since I came with baggage. Not that I’d ever call Aunt Meg or Jeremy baggage, but to people who didn’t know or love them? It wasn’t just me Zeke would be supporting, but two extra people.

Of course, the flip side of that was that I certainly wouldn’t be here if not for Jeremy, and if Aunt Meg wasn’t welcome then I wouldn’t stay either.

“Stop worrying,” Aunt Meg said, patting my leg. “It’s going to be fine.”

“You don’t know that,” I muttered.

“I thought things with you and Zeke were good,” she said.

“They are. He’s not who I’m worried about.”

“Why wouldn’t his parents like you?”

“You know why.”

“That’s old-fashioned and ridiculous,” she said. “And if they’re upset about something as archaic as premarital sex, they should be upset with their son. You didn’t get pregnant by yourself.”

“It’s not just his parents,” I said. “His band. Their girlfriends or whoever. I mean, the woman who supposedly didn’t tell him when I called is still the band’s manager. Imagine how that meeting is going to go.”

“Hopefully with her apologizing.” Aunt Meg’s eyes glittered with amusement. “Stop worrying, would you? Look at me. I’m bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready for an adventure. Are you sure I’m the old lady of the two of us?”

I laughed. “I don’t think anyone would ever call you an old lady.”

“Damn straight.” She reached out to play with Jeremy’s bare toes. He’d been miserable until we’d undressed him and since it was warm here in Los Angeles, I’d left him in nothing but his diaper and a onesie. The adorable little jumper I’d had him in to start the day was now stuffed in one of my carryon bags, along with his socks, shoes, and baby-sized baseball cap.

“I’m so tired of being scared,” I admitted softly, staring out at the non-stop rows of palm trees.

“Then don’t be.”

“How can I not? There’s a lot more at stake here than me getting my heart broken by a rockstar. This could impact Jeremy’s future. Mine. Yours.”

“I’ll be fine.” She waved a hand. “I shouldn’t be part of the equation in that sense at all. I’m going to rehab for a few weeks to get strong again, and then I plan to go right back to recording my Eye-Lights videos and trying to build that up. I’ll be the sweetest, oldest makeup influencer out there!”
