Jolie pipes up. “We were at the part where you run out there after my brother and tell him you love him, too.”

I dart my eyes around the room. What will everyone think of their supposed manager playing love games at work? When my gaze reaches Colt’s, he tips his head in the direction of the door and says, “Leave the clipboard.”

I stand. My next movements are something of a stutter. I start to leave. Glance around at everyone again. Put the clipboard down. “I’ll… uh… be right back.”

Bursting through the office door, I scan every direction. And there he is, not too far in the distance, but already leading down the path to where the new apartment is.

“Dash!” I call. I run toward him. “Dash! Wait!”

When he turns, my God there’s something new in his eyes. “I didn’t want to interrupt, but equally… I fucked up so badly, Molly. I felt a public statement was called for.”

“You didn’t do anything wrong.” But it’s damn amazing he put my opinion above all the others. That he cared more about what I thought than them. That I’m apriority.

He shakes his head. “I hurt you. In no world is that okay. But… I meant what I said.” He tilts his head. “In there.”

I’ve never had anyone make a proclamation for me, especially not someone as private as Dash. This is a very big deal. But I’m still not exactly sure what it means.

I hold up the keys. “What is this about?”

His eyebrows dance like they do when I think he’s about to smile but doesn’t. “It means when you’re ready, you’re mine.”

“Yours?” I try to smirk coyly but I’m probably grinning ear to ear.

He nods.

“Your… roommate?” Now I goad him a little.

“And then some.”

“Are you saying you like me, boss?”

He laces his fingers through mine. “I’m saying I love you, Sunshine.”

He yanks me into his arms and presses his lips onto mine. He wraps half of his open coat around me, protecting me from the cold. Pulling me hard into his chest where just on the other side of his sweater is the heart I managed to help put back together.

At first his kiss is gentle and searching, his comforting scent swirls around me, and all the possibility between us has me gripping his shirt and turning it all a bit desperate. When he slides his tongue between my lips, I let out a breathy moan that he devours with one of his own. He holds me tightly in his arms with passion, warmth, and something that feels like forever.

We kiss and kiss until his cock pokes my thigh and I think his fingers will be forever entangled in my hair. Just when I’m thinking if we should excuse ourselves and make up for lost time, all of a sudden, I hear a loud whoop!

“Yeeeeehaw! Giddy up, you two!” Jolie’s voice calls out into the air.

We stop kissing to turn in the direction of the office. There she is, and everyone else for that matter, fingers in her mouth letting off a wolf whistle. Have they been watching the entire time? Whistles, hooting, and hollering fill the yard.

I guess it’s not too early in the year for a feel-good Christmas romance.

Dash lowers his lips to the top of my head and murmurs, “Does this mean you like me, too? Because I didn’t come all this way to let you go. I’ll get you one way or another but I’d rather you come willingly.”

I laugh in the middle space between his pecs where both the feeling and the scent are soft and sensual. My voice is muffled. “I’m coming, Dash.”

I look up at him, and he kisses my nose.

“I’m coming but I can’t say I wouldn’t mind seeing you go all caveman on me. I might kind of like being thrown over your shoulder.”

“Baby… be careful what you wish for.”
