It’s a long morning, but the reward will be seeing Tennessee and hopefully enjoying the game. I don’t watch much football, but I have a feeling that’s about to change very quickly. When I come out of my special teams meeting, my phone vibrates.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Are you not able to throw your condoms in the trash can?

I snort, and Owen gives me a weird look.

Me: Okay, listen. You drained me, like dead. I yanked it off and rolled over onto you.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: I stepped on it.

A roar of laughter comes from me, and Owen’s look deepens. “What the hell is so funny?”

I shake my head as I write her back, and Sawyer says, “Obviously whoever he is texting.”

“Probably his girl. He’s smitten.”

Me: I’m sorry.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Are you laughing?

I laugh harder as Sawyer asks, “The girl who did our scans?”

“That’s her, but keep it on the down-low,” Owen says since I can’t focus on shit but Tennessee.

Me: Absolutely not.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Yes, you are. I know you are.

Me: How?

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Because I am, and there is obviously something wrong with us.

Me: Depends on who you ask. I am sorry, though. It won’t happen again.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: I don’t think you can promise that.

Me: I can’t, but I’ll get a trash can for beside the bed.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Thank you.

The Only Ten You’ll Ever See: Not to imply anything, but I have the rod in my arm to prevent little baby dragons. I haven’t ever had sex without a condom, and my tests are clear.

My cheek burns as my cock comes alive in my pants, and I snicker.

Me: Don’t threaten me with a good time, baby doll.

She sends me the peach emoji, eggplant emoji, and then the water droplets with the kissy face, and I’ve never loved emojis so much in my life.

“She’s absolutely incredible.”

“No. Tell me more,” Owen deadpans, and Sawyer glances over at me.

“So, you’re sprung, huh?”

“Oh, it’s more than that,” I say as I tuck my phone into my pocket. “I want to ask her to move in.”

Sawyer makes a face. “Didn’t you just meet her like yesterday?”

I shake my head. “No. We met this summer. We just linked back up.”

“She tried to ghost him. It didn’t work out well for her,” Owen supplies, and Sawyer scoffs.

“I can tell. But still, it’s a bit fast, isn’t it?”

“Not if I know she’s the one.”

Sawyer looks between us, but Owen just shrugs. “Listen, when you know, you know. I have loved Angie for a long time, and I just wanted to skip all the middle stuff and jump into the good stuff, which is being her husband.”

“Yeah, but you’ve known her our whole lives. He just met this girl,” Sawyer says. “She could be a crazy person.”

I shake my head as Owen pushes the door open, and we go through it. “The only crazy thing about her is her obsession with the Vols. But even with that, I love every single thing about her.”

“Oh wow. Look who finally came around,” Owen teases. “I knew you were smitten with her when you were lying on my couch crying—”

“I wasn’t crying,” I tell Sawyer, but he’s laughing at Owen.

“She won’t call me. My life is over. What do I dooooo?” he says, mocking me in a whiny voice. “It was the best nut of my life. Owen, how do I get her to answer me?”

“Now we all know you’re lying. No one would ask for relationship advice from you,” Sawyer teases as we head down the stairs of the practice arena. “I don’t know. For me, I gotta know her before I bring her into my bed. I’ve been stalked, and it’s no fun.”

“That’s doesn’t sound ideal. But when you know, you know. And I know what I feel for her is real,” I say, but then I see someone standing by my truck. “Who the fuck…” My sentence trails off when I realize who it is. “Come the hell on.”

“Man, let me text Angie for bail money,” Owen says as Bitchface turns to look at me, tucking his phone into his pocket.

He looks me over and then clears his throat. “Can we talk?”

Uninterested, I sigh. “I don’t think we have anything to talk about.”

“I’d like to speak to you, man-to-man,” he says, his shoulders back and looking like he really thinks he’s about to do something here. “Without an audience.”

Owen scoffs. “Dude, we’re here for your protection.”

Sawyer crosses his arms over his chest. “Exactly.”

Dipshit looks between all of us and then exhales. “I need to talk to you about Tennessee.”

Just hearing her name on his lips makes me cringe. He says her name like the state and not how it’s supposed to be said. Like a damn prayer. How did she ever date this fuck? “What about her?”
