Page 64 of Reckless Goals

He pushed me into the hard bricks and held me by my shoulders, licking his lips. “Why did you leave?”

“I doubt that’s why Coach wants you talking to me.”

“We both know you focus better when you’re not overthinking.”

“I’m not—”

“Yes you are. You left, we haven’t talked in two weeks, and now I’m here distracting you. So let’s clear the air so you can focus.”

I slumped a little at how accurate he was. With Coach back in town, I hadn’t planned on seeing Rhys again. It had been a tough couple of weeks without him, but it was all the more reason I was glad I left. It was only going to hurt more if I watched him rekindle whatever still lingered between him and his ex.

I got too close. The way he made love to me in those early morning hours at his place was intense, and affected way more than just my orgasm count.

“I left because I needed to leave. You shouldn’t be here either.”

“Cruz was coming to get in your friend’s pants. Think I was going to let him come alone?”

“So you’re cock blocking for him? That’s the only reason you’re here?”

“You know it's not,” he growled, dropping his hands from my shoulders and running them through his hair. “You need to focus, Ash.”

“Hard to do when I keep looking up in the stands, mad that you’re here, and at the same time, hoping you don’t leave. You have me messed up. We messed this up, Rhys.”

There was no way I was going to admit that I saw his text. It was irrelevant, and it wasn’t like it made me mad. Rhys had been up front about her, about his goals to be a dad and marry her. A few weeks ago, he may have thought that was a lost cause, but now what?

“Fuck Ash,” he moaned quietly and got closer to me. “We can’t take that back now.”

“You were only supposed to help me with soccer. Find my focus and play my game.”

“Turns out you play best when your mind is quiet, when your worries are forgotten, and your body is satisfied.” His mouth was close to mine, and I could tell he was struggling with whether or not to kiss me.

“It couldn’t last forever,” I tried to argue.

“But maybe one more time?” His hands skimmed the bare part of my thigh where my shorts and socks weren’t covering anything.

“Right here?”

“Right now.”

“Rhys, this is more than reckless. This is dangerous.”To my heart.

“Open up,” he nudged my legs apart and I complied, not able to stop myself from wanting him again. I didn’t even put up a solid argument, nor did I care that I was in the middle of a game with thousands of people just around the corner from us.

His hand dipped into the waistband of my shorts and into my panties, his fingers finding purchase on my clit. I shook my head but no words came from my lips.

“Let me calm you down, help you focus. One more time, baby.”

“How many ‘one more times?’” I cried, but pushed into his touch.

He could have already been back with his ex. My coach could walk out and find us. People that were walking in front of the building could possibly hear us.

Or I could fall in love.

“This is bad. We are bad.” I said to myself, but loud enough for him to hear.

“I always want to do bad things with you,” he whispered back, his lips hovering over mine.

“So dangerous,” I added as his lips touched mine and we found the same pulse we had developed before. A connection so natural and right.
