Before I could high-five him and tell him how much I loved his positivity, the waiter came up. I motioned for Tripp to order us whatever he wanted, as I had done at the Italian place. The waiter nodded as Tripp rattled off a few things, flashing his eyes my way every few words.

Tripp stopped him as the waiter was about to walk away and added, "Bring some conch, too."

"You promised!" I feigned dramatically.

"You know I'm not noble enough to keep a promise."

"I'm not eating it. No way."

"We'll see about that."

For the next hour, we spent another fantastic meal together, with more laughter and flirting.

Despite my best efforts, I caved to Tripp's charm again and tried the conch. Then, I also had to eat my words because the conch was delicious. I moaned and did a little dance when the buttered dipping sauce hit my tongue.

Tripp covered his ears and closed his eyes, mumbling what a bad idea it had been to order it. It made me want more, and I made a show of letting the butter drip on my chin.

"I think I need to know your name, Coconut. A little fate brought me in here for a second chance with you."

"A second chance to fuck me?"

"That's all I have to give," he winked.

"How come I highly doubt that?"

"Maybe because you don't really know me?"

"Maybe," I bit my lip, trying not to smile as I focused on my drink to keep from looking at him. "It's been fun, being mysterious and discreet, though."

"Tell me," he growled, leaning forward to get my attention back on him. "What name should I whisper the next time I kiss your lips?"

"Tatum O'Neil," I confessed, waving my hands like Vanna White.

Tripp's face paled, though, and his eyes widened. He sat back in his chair, dropping his hold on my hand, and slightly shook his head.

"What?" I panicked, not sure what was happening. "Same name as an ex?"

"No," Tripp swallowed. "Just surprised me for a minute."

"Good surprise? Or bad?"

"Fuck, I don't know yet."

Tripp

Whoever Hunter needed me to be that night disappeared the second I saw Coconut. She was the only girl I saw sitting alone and was wearing a dress like Hunter described, so I approached her thinking she was who I was meeting. But I went the rest of the night thinking,"Fuck Hunter, Coconut is here."

Hearing her name being the exact name Hunter texted me didn't even make sense at first. There were coincidences I wasn't blind to, like her being stood up by her ex, but I didn't connect that she was Hunter's girl.

Then it all came to me, and I realized I hadn't brushed off Hunter's request like I thought I had. I walked right to it, making it even more twisted than he did.

Coconut being Tatum made me rethink everything all over again. He told me she was his girlfriend, but Tatum referred to him as her ex. Hunter acted like an ex, but Tatum still pined for Hunter in a way I would never understand.

"What don't you know?" Tatum laughed nervously while my train of thought took a trip around crazy town and back.

"Yeah," I cleared my throat, not even making sense. But it gave me a few more seconds to think of something. "Just sounded familiar and took me off guard."
