The fuck? Not that it wasn't true, but who would have enough insight to even know that?

"Did your boyfriend tell you that?" I snapped.

"What? No! I heard it after the game."

Probably Luca's wife. She was standing near Tatum when I left the locker room, and she was the biggest gossip I had ever seen. But I still wouldn't put it past Hunter to bad-mouth me, either.

"Sorry," I mumbled and took another bite of my rice. "But you confuse me too."

"How? I've been nothing but honest with you."

"So here's the thing." Realizing she was no longer eating, I also pushed my plate away and stood up. Rounding the table to stand in front of her, I leaned onto the arms of the chair and got close to her lips, exactly where I liked to be. "I've wanted to fuck you since the moment I saw you. But when you told me you were celebrating being over an ex, I knew that wasn't something I was interested in being in the middle of. Then I saw you in that restaurant, and it was like I was being told I had another chance. Yet, I get the feeling that thoughts of your ex are still lingering in your gorgeous head. It makes me ask myself if I am through caring or if I need to take a step back. It's frustrating, Coconut."

From the moment I said I wanted to fuck her, her breathing had increased. Sneaking my tongue out, I gently licked her lips, teasing her as if it was her pussy. Her arms started to shake, and I knew she wanted me as badly as I wanted her. She just wasn't sure what she was going to do about it yet.

"I want to make you forget about whoever thought it was a good idea to make you their second thought. Because you've been my first thought every day since we met, and all I can think about is what it would feel like to have your mouth around me while you make those cute little moans."

"It's complicated," she whispered, her defense weakening as her lips grazed mine.

"So you've said."

"I didn't expect to meet you and feel this way," she confessed. "I thought Hunter and I had more time."

It was the first time she spoke his name, and even though I knew exactly who she was talking about, I still flinched when I heard her say it. That was just enough to make me back away and stand upright. She was still breathing hard, so I picked up her water and handed it to her, nearly pushing it up to her mouth and forcing her to drink.

After a few gulps, I pulled the glass from her hand and set it back down. Then I pulled her to her feet and kissed her hard and passionately. My hands were on her waist, then her neck, then tracing a line down her thigh. Pressing my hard cock into her, I wanted her to feel what she did to me and know that despite Hunter and whatever complications she had, it didn't change how I felt.

But that was when I pulled back and nearly pushed her back into her chair. It hit me like a truck and made my head spin. No part of me cared about Hunter when it came to fucking her. Still, there was one thing Hunter could probably give her that I wasn't sure I could. It was exactly why I needed to stop kissing her until I knew what was happening with them.

Tatum

"Don't stop," I begged, reaching for Tripp. He looked like he had seen a ghost, his eyes wide and contemplative all of a sudden.

"Nothing has changed. I meant what I said, fucking you is as far as I go."

"Then do it already. Stop finding a reason not to."

"If there wasn't someone else in this twisted little game we are playing, then I wouldn't have ever hesitated."

"I'm the one that has to worry about the morality of the situation, Tripp. Not you."

"That's not true," he winced, then took a few long strides to the door, leaving me alone on the balcony for a minute. I felt so conflicted because it seemed like there was a piece of the puzzle that I wasn't given.

After a minute, I followed Tripp into the apartment and found him in the kitchen, cleaning the few dishes he had messed up when he made dinner. I could only watch and wait while he worked out his hesitations.

My phone buzzed from my bag that I had tossed onto the counter, but I ignored it, already knowing who it was. Hunter had no idea where I was because after calling me on Wednesday, I hadn't heard from him again. He didn't need to know that I was in Tripp Maddux's apartment and seconds away from falling to my knees in front of him.

Whatever Tripp was warring with, all of a sudden, I wanted to take it away. He made me feel wanted and sexy, and I wanted to make him feel the same way. We all had exes, and I wasn't sure why my having one was keeping Tripp from acting on every word he spoke to me.

"I'm here," I whispered to him once my phone stopped buzzing.

"He's calling again," Tripp huffed, listening to my phone start again.

"Ignore it."

"I can't!" He threw the dish towel he was holding and ran his hands through his hair. He reached into his pocket and threw his phone onto the counter next to where I was standing. It was buzzing as well, but I didn't want to look and invade his privacy.
