"But…" she pointed at the note, that was not just a note. Along with the words, "Keep your hands to yourself," there was a picture of me on the night I drank too much at the club. A snapshot of one more thing I didn't remember doing or saying.

"Who is that with you? Is he, um…Does he have his mouth around your…?"

"My dick? I have no idea, but it sure looks like it. I have no idea who that is, I can't see his face, but I know who took the picture."

"Is this the same night you said you didn't remember agreeing to help Hunter?"

"That was where I was, and what I was wearing, so yeah, I'd assume so."

Picking the picture back up, I took another look at it, printed on computer paper with poor quality. Despite being grainy, it was clear that it was me, with my head thrown back in pleasure. Someone appeared to be sucking my dick in the corner of the dance floor. The broad shoulders indicated it was a man, with a glint of an earring in his right ear. But his face was blurry, and I didn't know if that was intentional or just the lack of quality.

"This could get you kicked off the team," Tatum cried, picking up the towel she had on earlier and wrapping it around her body. "Why are you here? You cannot possibly be so cocky that you'd risk him sending this to the team, or leaking it online."

"I don't care if the world knows where I get my pleasure from. Let him post it. What will they get rid of me for? Being with a man?"

"Being with anyone, in public, and causing a scandal for the team. That's what! Trust me, Tripp, I do this for a living and no one can market a family day at an Inferno game when their midfielder is caught doing sexual acts in public."

"That didn't stop either one of us when you were on my cock at the Beach Club."

"That was different. If anyone had seen it, it would just look like I was sitting on your lap. It would be easy to explain that we were just being a normal couple. Plus, those cabanas are supposed to be private. You're surrounded by a million people in that picture, Tripp."

"I don't mind a scandal."

"Yes you do," she called my bluff. "You don't want this to ruin your position on the team."

"Fine," I yelled, "I'm freaked the fuck out. But what am I supposed to do?"

"Leave," she begged, stepping closer to me. Kissing my lips, she zipped my jeans back up and brought her hands to my neck. "I'll fix this."

"Don't—" I started to warn her because I knew fixing it would involve her being around Hunter again, but she stopped me and kissed me again.

"Let me do my job."

"I didn't hire you."

"Doesn't matter. I know exactly what I have to do."

ChapterTwenty-Four

Tatum

Luckily, Tripp stormed out of my apartment and out of my life. It was for his own good. Maybe the picture wasn't a big deal, but he was weeks away from the Inferno deciding whether to re-sign him for next season. His name being painted across the internet for anything scandalous would destroy him.

After everything between us the last few weeks, I wanted to protect him and fix the damage. If only that didn't mean I needed to stay away from him in the meantime. Hunter was out of his mind, and if he thought Tripp and I were still seeing each other, he wouldn't hesitate to make our lives hell.

"I'm going after the Inferno," I told my boss first thing Monday morning. "Formula One and hockey are not our top priority."

"When did you decide what's important?" She snapped at me, upset about my new attitude.

"Sophia." I took a deep breath before continuing, praying I didn't lose my job. "The Inferno are about to enter their postseason workouts. Their left wing, Rhys Peyton is the best player in the world, but he lost his mind this past season. Then there is Cruz Martin, the goalie. He disappeared twelve minutes into a game that could make or break their season, and no one has heard from him since."

"You think I don't know that?" She stood from behind her desk and walked toward me, where I stood in the middle of her office. "I have Tina on the Inferno. She will get all she needs and convince them to hire us. Don't question me again."

"I didn't question you for pursuing a contract with the Inferno, but I know something Tina doesn't, and unless I'm the one to pursue the lead, I'm not giving her any hints."

"Why? You don't get paid more for being a headhunter, Tatum."

"It's not about being paid more. But I want the job. Tina can have the hockey team."
