"Everything okay?"

"Coming to save our girl?"

Tripp snorted and crossed his arms, leaning on the wall on my other side. "She doesn't need saving."

Unlike Hunter, Tripp had showered and changed. He was in jeans and a T-shirt, with flip-flops. His hair was slicked back from his shower, and he smelled like when we took one together at his apartment. It made those memories start coming back, and my heart picked up its pace.

"Then what are you doing here?"

"Coach asked me to meet him. Did you two get called to the principal's office as well?"

"I requested to meet with him," I answered, then turned to Hunter. "You?"

"Just waiting with my friend."

Tripp had uncrossed his arms, and I felt his light touch grazing the side of my body he was standing on. Hunter couldn't see if he looked, but it helped that his focus was on the wall ahead of us.

My body shook a little, and I played it off like I had a chill, but it only encouraged Tripp to push me further. Standing between the two of them was awkward, but Tripp was taking the opportunity to remind me who I really belonged to. Not only was I exactly where he wanted me to be, but I was falling more and more with each secret touch he gave me.

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore, so I walked away, leaving them alone to fight their little war.

ChapterTwenty-Seven

Tripp

More than anything, I hated how well Hunter and I played together when we were forced to run drills. It was like we were in League One again, and he was lining up assists for me one after the other. Until we were there on the field, I had forgotten how good he was.

Then again, one glance over toward Tatum, and I remembered how bad he was. How dirty he did her, and how he was blackmailing me to stay away from her. He may have learned to shut his mouth and play on the field, but he still wasn't my friend.

When I got to the locker room, I couldn't take it anymore and texted her. She had yet to respond to my texts, but I tried one more time, telling her to meet me in the coach's office. Coach never used his office, but she didn't know that, and neither did Hunter.

Therefore, after she walked away, we stood there like two fools, neither wanting to be the first to move. And since I had told him I was there for Coach, I really had to wait until he left first.

"You happy?"

"Why would I be happy?"

"Because she won't even look at me since you sent me that fun little threat."

"What threat?"

Huffing a laugh laced with annoyance, I lifted from the wall. "Don't fuck with me, Hunt. It's been one lie after the next with you. You got your way, so fuck off."

He also lifted off the wall, facing me and getting into my personal space. "Nothing goes my way!"

"Don't use me trying to get it. But more importantly, don't use her."

Turning around, I walked off, listening to him laugh behind me. He didn't bother responding, but his laugh made me want to turn back around and beat his ass. Lucky for him, I wasn't done with Coconut. She and I would talk, and I wasn't settling for her ignoring me. Especially when she had the nerve to look like a sexy lawyer every day while I fought for my career on the field.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Tatum whipped around before she could open her car door. I was right behind her and pressed her against the hot metal, using my body to keep her in place.

"Why are you running?"

"I was in the middle of a dick measuring contest, was I supposed to stick around for that?"
