"No, it's okay," I assured him. "I will be fine. I'm sure he is just trying to fuck with me."

"Are you with another guy?"

Rolling my eyes and twisting my neck, I shrugged, even though he couldn't see me. "You know I am."

"Yeah, I do."

"But Hunter isn't scaring me away from him. Not again, at least."

Tripp's eyes beaded, and his hand came to my cheek. I leaned into his touch and closed my eyes, soaking in how content he made me feel.

"I'm not a fan of Hunter," Colton reassured me, "But he's not the same. Sometimes I wonder…" He trailed off, and I gave him a minute to finish his thought, but he redirected instead. "I just want everything to be normal."

"I know," I sighed. "Me too."

"So just…I don't know."

Yeah, no one knew anything anymore.

"Look, Colt, I gotta go."

"Wait—"

Hitting the end of the call, I immediately pulled up a text to him.

I'll call you when I head home. Promise.

You better.

Once I set my phone down, Tripp grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. "Tell me."

"Can we just do what we do best?" Lifting onto my knees, I pressed my lips to his and pushed him backward onto the bed. Crawling on top of him, I ran my hands down his shirtless torso and started grinding my pussy on his growing erection.

"Is this what we do best?"

"It's all you can give me, remember? I'll take what I can get."

"Let me give you more."

Staring down at him, I tried to determine his meaning without jumping to conclusions. When he decided to text me and then track me down in the parking lot, was it because he missed the sex or because he missed me?

No clear answer was written on his face, but I nodded anyway. It wasn't like I could get up and walk away, no matter what he thought and felt.

ChapterTwenty-Nine

Tripp

Sitting up, I grabbed Tatum under her thighs and carried her into the living room. As much as I wanted to fuck her, I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted to give her more. Or I at least wanted to try.

When I woke up with her in my arms, I knew I wouldn't let Hunter scare her away again. We both deserved to see where we were going, and what it was that was growing between us. Even though it scared the shit out of me, it scared me more to think of her ending up in his arms and not mine.

"What are you doing?"

"Trust me, Coconut. I'm going to make you come. I'll make all those worries disappear. But not until you tell me what those worries are. The living room seems safer than the bedroom for now."

Setting her down on the couch, I backed away and made us a few drinks, then placed a delivery order from La Trattoria. When I sat down with her, her legs were crisscrossed, her hair was unkempt, and her blouse was unbuttoned just enough to show me the curves of her breasts.

How the fuck was I going to resist her long enough to be someone that deserved her?
