Pratt noticed me and stood up, turning off the vacuum. “Chris called. The meeting isn’t at the house. It’s at the café.”

I frowned. “Why?”

“Because Grimrose is coming too.”

“Great,” I muttered, grabbing my helmet off the dresser. “I’ll see you later.”

I strode out of the room and headed out of the dorm building, my stomach twisting. As much as I didn’t want to deal with Grimrose today, I was actually a bit relieved. Chris had been furious when he found out what happened with the Riot Crew, and he loved to take his anger out on me. At least with others there, he’d have to rein it in.

I got to the parking lot and froze when I spotted Rynn across the pavement. She was leaning against her car with a phone to her ear. She was already watching me, her body relaxed as she spoke, but I was too far away to hear what she was saying.

“Look all you want, but if you get any closer to her, I’ll lay you out. I’m itching to repay the Disciples for the amazing fucking hospitality I was shown when I was stuck in Pacific Point.”

I whirled around to see Gage behind me. He had a smirk on his lips, but he was tense, his fists clenched. The skin on his face was a bit yellow from the healing bruises from when Chris had him. Tucking my helmet under my arm, I returned his leering grin.

“Has she told you how close we got while she was with Kian and me?” I asked, cocking my head.

He glared at me, not moving a muscle. “You hurt her?”

I laughed. “I mean, she was screaming. My name. And Kian’s. But it wasn’t from pain.”

His expression didn’t change, and I couldn’t tell whether my words were news to him, but the rage radiating off him meant I was getting under his skin like I wanted. Rynn’s voice drifted through the air as she called Gage’s name, and his eyes darted past me.

“Better run along and follow her orders like the little soldier you are,” I taunted, backing up toward my motorcycle. “You know, she followed my commands the other night—”

“You better be really fucking careful about what you say next,” Gage snapped, taking a step closer to me.

“Ask her,” I tossed back. “If Kian and I were so terrible to her, then why did she get on her knees willingly for me?”

His phone began ringing, cutting through the tension. He pulled it from his pocket, his gaze staying on me for another few seconds before he glanced at the screen. He mumbled a curse, looking back at me.

“You’re welcome at The Pit anytime,” he told me, his voice low. “But if you show your face there, then I’ll take that as an invitation that you want to fight in the cage.”

He didn’t give me a chance to respond before he put the phone to his ear and jogged to where Rynn was. I watched them both get into her car as Gage’s threat ran through my mind. After seeing him fighting with Kian in Rynn’s dorm, I was sure he could hold his own, but I’d love a chance to see who’d win in a fight between me and him.

My phone went off, and I didn’t have to look to know it was Chris. I was already late. I slid my helmet on before getting on my bike and starting it. I just wanted to get this meeting over with.

“You’re late.”

I glanced up after turning the corner and found Kian leaning against the brick wall near the entrance of the café. He looked about as happy as I did about being here, if the frown on his lips was anything to go by. It felt surreal that we were meeting in Pacific Point after spending years staying on our side of the middle town line.

“If I’m so late, why the hell aren’t you inside?” I questioned, stopping next to him.

“Because my dad isn’t here yet, and I really don’t feel like dealing with Chris or your gang by myself.”

“Scared?”

He scoffed, shooting me a glare. “Chris might be an asshole, but he’s not stupid enough to do anything to me. But it doesn’t mean I want to play nice longer than I fucking have to.”

His eyes raised to my hair, and he snickered, making a muscle in my jaw tick.

“What?” I snapped.

“At least she chose blue for you.”

Since this meeting was weighing on my mind, it took me a few moments to realize he was staring at the glitter that was no doubt still in my hair. Then I noticed the glitter stuck to the skin on his neck, and a laugh bubbled in my chest. The glitter she chose for him was pink. I hoped he’d opened it in his room like I had.
