“Hudson,” I say. “It’s inappropriate etiquette to feel a girl up at a charity ball.”

He lets go and takes my hand in his instead. “Parker, if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love being inappropriate.”

My face grows hot as we both move back towards the party.

It’s time for the first meal of the evening, so Hudson and I head into the dining area that’s set up on the inside of the yacht.

My father and mother spot me and immediately come towards us, but Hudson doesn’t let go of my hand.

“Hudson, this is my mother, Meredith and my father, William Kelleher,” I say, nervously introducing them. “Mom and dad, this is Hudson.”

“I know who he is,” my father says with a wide smile on his face as he and Hudson shake hands.

I’m pretty sure my mouth hangs open as I watch the entire exchange. My father knows Hudson. This night is turning out to be more eventful than I thought it would.

“You two know each other?” I ask, sounding more astounded than I intend to sound.

“Yes, love. How can I not know my own best friend’s son?”

“It’s good to see you, Mr Kelleher,” Hudson says. “When I met Parker, I thought she was familiar. However, I didn’t make the connection.”

“Ah, yes. You’re attending Kensington as well, isn’t that so?” my father asks.

Hudson nods his head as he answers smoothly, confidently. “Yes, sir. I’m in my fourth year of law.”

“Dinner is served!” someone announces at the front and my father reaches over and pats Hudson on the shoulder.

“I wish you all the best. Tell John that I’ll see him soon.”

“We’ll see you both later on,” my mother says, beaming at me and waving as she and my dad find their way to the table.

“You know my father. That just makes me feel strange,” I tell Hudson and he smiles as he takes me to the table.

I look around curiously and there’s no sign of the girl that was with him earlier on that evening.Where was she?

Hudson and I take our seats together at the far corner, where no one can listen in to us.

“Manhattan is a small city. For wealthy people at least. Everyone in this room knows each other. In the business world, everyone usually knows each other,” Hudson explains.

“A concept I will never get used to,” I say.

The meal starts to arrive. My mouth waters as a server places the starter before us. It’s tender duck served in a red wine sauce.

I lift my knife and fork and begin to eat. The duck is so soft that it melts on my tongue. I’m halfway through when I realise Hudson is not eating but watching me.

“Why aren’t you eating? Aren’t you hungry?” I ask.

He leans in to whisper, “I feel like eating something else that’s not quite on the menu tonight.”

My cheeks burn at his innuendo and I gasp as his hand casually drops to my thigh. His fingers inch up and I can barely breathe as his hand brushes against my clit.

I’m wet. I can feel the wetness grow as he continues to massage my thigh and when I look up at Hudson he’s smiling because he knows too. He can feel how wet I am.
