After a few moments, when the birds start chirping, I turn around on my side to face him and find him staring up at the ceiling for long.

Whether he realises that I’m watching him or not is a complete mystery, because he stays silent and continues to stare up at nothing.

His chest rises and falls before he finally closes his eyes and a soft sigh escapes his lips.

“What were you thinking about?” I finally ask him.

His voice is low when he speaks. “Nothing. Absolutely nothing.”

“Really? I find that hard to believe. You were gazing for long at the ceiling,” I say.

“I was thinking about being alone.”

I stare at him even though his eyes are still closed. “What do you mean?”

“I mean complete solitude. Sometimes, I think I was born for that. A life of complete solitude.”

“I don’t get it, why would you think that?” I ask.

“I don’t know. Maybe I wasn’t wired to work like everyone else does to crave constant human contact,” he says. “Good night, Parker.”

His words leave me in confusion as I tell him goodnight. If he really feels that way, then what more does the future hold for us?

A Date

Parker

Hudson and I are awake early on Sunday morning, with the local housekeeper, Rosalia, already here and cleaning up from the party the night before.

We both take turns having a hot shower before getting dressed—I decide to wear a light blue and white striped short-sleeve shirt that comes at my midriff with my light wash denim cut-offs that show off my long tanned legs.

I also have a simple black bikini underneath, just as Hudson instructed me to wear.

When I’m done, I pull my damp hair into a messy bun and grab my rucksack before going downstairs to where Hudson is busy on his phone.

He’s in a white1985 Tommy Hilfigert-shirt with dark grey board shorts on and a pair of vans. His black snapback cap is backwards with his dark, damp hair sticking out from sides.

I silently ask myself how is it possible for someone to look this good because it shouldn’t be possible.

He looks up at me with a lazy grin. “Are you ready?”

“Yeah,” I say and he puts his phone away, before standing up and kissing me.

His warm lips linger on mine for a few seconds longer, before he finally breaks away and grabs my hand. “Let’s take the roadster today.”

With the house silent and seemingly empty, I assume Matt is either still sleeping or probably out already.

Hudson and I leave the house, after giving a spare key to Rosalia before we head towards the garage.

“Wait here,” Hudson says as he opens the garage door with the remote control.

He goes in and a few seconds later, a car roars to life and Hudson drives out of the garage with the roadster which turns out to be a shiny black Ferrari with only two dark red leather seats that sits low to the ground and instantly I’m transported to car heaven.

“Good morning sexy, is there anyway, I can persuade you into taking a ride with me?” he asks, placing his arm against the headrest casually, and I can’t help the grin that spreads across my lips.

“Good morning sir, you sure can,” I say as I open the door and get into the car.
