Thirty minutes later, we’re ready to go.

The sequin dress fits like a glove. I’ve paired it with some blood-red heels and matching lipstick.

Maddie braided the front of my hair in two French plaits and gave the rest big bouncy curls to emphasize the lighter ends of my hair from the dark roots. It’s different for me, but it looks sexy.

Posing for a quick selfie, I upload it to my Instagram and lock my phone, tossing it back in my black leather clutch. I run and grab a black fur coat. Last week it was fucking freezing and tonight feels even cooler.

“Right, David’s just text. He’s on his way to The End Zone with a couple of his mates from the gym now. I said we’ll be there in about twenty.”

My body instantly freezes when she mentions The End Zone.

What if he’s there?

No. Last week was the opening night. The owner doesn’t need to go to the club every weekend, right?

Maddie links my arm through hers. “You might get to see your sexy boxer friend tonight with any luck.”

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of.

CHAPTER9

KELLER

Now it's Friday night. I promised Grayson a VIP night at the club to make up for being “an absolute cunt” this week - his exact words.

I get to the club early, pour myself a scotch in the office and pull up the security feeds. Memories flooding back to me of last Friday in my office with a certain firecracker coming apart on my fingers. I can almost smell her sweet scent now. It’s addicting. Dangerous.

Here I am sitting and watching people enter the club on a Friday night, wondering, no, hoping she might make an appearance. What the hell has happened to me? This woman is turning me into an absolute pussy.

I know I shouldn’t want her. I can’t have her, but I can’t resist this urge.

I saw on her Instagram that she was off on a girls' night tonight. I can only hope her fine ass ends up in my club.

Now on my third measure of Scotch, Grayson texts to tell me he’s on his way. I continue to study the monitor, until something catches my attention. Zooming in on the main doors, I squint. Is that you Princess?

I know from the hammering in my chest it’s her.

She’s in the queue with her blonde friend from last week. I can see through the screen her eyes light up when she talks. Why am I bothered to know that she has friends to take care of her?

A pair of masculine arms wrap around Sienna’s neck and she snuggles into them, turning to flash the prick her bright, infectious smile.

Fuck.This.

Slamming my drink on the desk, I charge out of the office, fists clenched by my sides. Grayson’s walking down the hall towards my office. I don’t have time for him right now. Cutting him off before he can start, I say, “I gotta sort something real quick. Your booth is set up in the VIP area. Give them your name. I’ll meet you there in a minute.”

Without waiting for a response, I continue on my mission - get that bloke the fuck off Sienna.

All week I’ve almost killed myself physically trying to get her off my mind. Just one look at her and it’s all flooding back. Every cell of my body is warning me against this, screaming at me to leave it.

My heart may be working in the sense it pumps blood around my body to keep me alive, but it’s dead in the sense it doesn’t feel.

It doesn’t feel anything other than darkness.

There is no light.

I don’t deserve light.

To be the beast in the boxing ring, the enforcer on the streets I can’t allow light into my life. I crave the darkness.
