I’ve never considered myself or my brothers as alpha males, but I can see how she might see us that way, with our confidence bordering on arrogance because of our money. I’ve never thought of myself as intimidating before, but her description of me, hot on the heels of Lesley’s comments, makes me wonder whether others—especially women—view me like that sometimes. That makes me uncomfortable. I don’t want Alice to feel bullied or browbeaten. Did she understand what I tried to explain last night? I have no desire to control her in real life. The thought of controlling her pleasure during sex, though, of drawing out her orgasm, teasing her until she can’t bear it any longer, definitely turns me on.

Best not to think about that if I want to go back to sleep.

I visit the bathroom, then come back to bed. She’s lying on her side now, facing away from me, and I curl around her, enjoying her warm, soft skin, the feel of her nestled against me, the smell of her hair as I nuzzle the silky strands. I lower my arm around her, and I’m content to just hold her as I doze in the early morning sun.

A couple of hours later, I’m in the kitchen in a pair of track pants frying bacon when she comes in wearing my white tee and—I soon discover as I slide a hand up her thigh to her bottom—nothing else.

“Hey you,” she says, hugging me. “I woke up and you’d gone.”

“I thought you probably hadn’t had breakfast in bed for a while, so I decided to cook for you.”

“I’ve never had breakfast in bed,” she admits, sniffing the bacon.

“Never?”

“We weren’t allowed as kids, and I’ve cooked my and Charlie’s breakfast since I was fourteen.”

“In that case,” I say firmly, “we’re definitely having it in bed. I’ve decided—we’re not getting up today.” I flip the bacon with one hand, keeping the other on her soft butt.

Her lips curve up. “You’re kidding.”

“Nope.”

“That’s so decadent. I couldn’t possibly spend all day in bed.”

“Do I need to tie you to it?” I look down at her.

She meets my eyes, and hers are lit with amusement and a touch of excitement. “You’re so wicked,” she murmurs.

“It’s you,” I tell her, releasing her so I can crack a couple of eggs into the pan. “You bring out the animal in me.”

She giggles. “Is there anything I can do?”

“Butter the rolls, if you like.”

She does that while I start making the coffee. Within a few minutes, the egg-and-bacon rolls and two steaming mugs of coffee are ready on the tray. I carry them back to the bedroom, and we climb on and sit back against the pillows, me with my legs stretched out, her cross-legged, while we eat.

We talk about all kinds of things, her upcoming podcasts, her recording setup and studio, my work, AI, gaming… We talk, and we sip our coffee and watch the sun rising in the sky, filling the room with bright-gold summer sunshine.

I’ve never done this with a girl. Never shared the same tastes in books, movies, and music, and been able to lie there for hours talking, laughing, and enjoying just being together.

It’s nearing midday when Alice finally says, “This is lovely, but I really should have a shower.”

“No point,” I tell her, reaching out to lace my fingers through hers.

“Why?”

I pull her hand toward me, and laugh as she falls onto my chest. “Because I’ve got some very dirty things planned,” I murmur, sliding a hand to the back of her head and pulling it down to kiss her.

“Mmm.” She kisses me back, then lifts her head to look at me with wide eyes. “But it’s the middle of the day.”

“So?”

She looks genuinely surprised. “I just thought…”

“We had to wait until it was dark and the lights were out? Come on, Alice, I thought you knew me better than that.”
