“You no longer have to resist.” I smirked. “Want to come up to my place after dinner?”

“That’s the thing.”

I frowned. “What’s the thing?”

“My parents are old-fashioned, though mostly my mom.”

“And they live in the orc kingdom. You told me that already.”

“I want to introduce you. Could you come home with me this weekend? My older brother’s competing in a Gromgret tournament, and this Saturday’s event ranks right up there with your Super Bowl.”

“What does that have to do with you carrying me off to the bedroom?”

“My parents are sticklers for tradition and it’s common for orc couples to wait before solidifying their mating until . . . See, my mom wants to give you two mating tests first.”

I tilted my head, studying his gorgeous, knobby face. “What kind of tests?”

“I can only tell you that they’ll be easy and once you’ve completed them, my parents will give their approval of our mating.”

“What if I can’t complete the tests or they don’t give their approval?”

His claws traced across my belly, making my laugh snort out. “I’m mating with you no matter what.”

Ah, I got it. “It’s kind of sweet, actually.”

“What is?”

“That you’re holding yourself back because their approval matters. I like it. I guess I can wait until after the tests.” Though it was going to be hard. His kisses made me swoon, and when he touched me, I wanted to rip off our clothing and climb all over him.

“My mother will pick the tests, but I promise they’ll be simple. And once you’ve completed the first right after we arrive . . .”

“What?” I asked, holding my breath.

“Then I’m going to carry you to my bedroom and love you all night long.”

“You won’t wait until I complete the second test?”

He shrugged. “I love you. I’m going to be with you. Maybe it’s silly of me to want to wait until you’ve met them.”

I adored that he honored their wishes. “I don’t mind.” Not too much.

I’d heard about orc mating from my friend, Autumn, who was about to marry Thraal, though she’d already mated with him in the traditional orc way. Without tests, however, but Thraal was an orphan. That could be why.

She’d told me all about the first orc mating. If a male was interested in a female, he would indicate that to her. If she responded favorably, he’d fling her over his shoulder and take her to the woods, where he’d claim her. After that, they were considered married—or mated, that is.

It was something to look forward to.

We had dinner, took a walk in the park, and as it got dark, he drove me home. We made out in the parking lot outside my building, and, well, things got a little heated.

Undoing my pants, he nudged them down over my hips.

He grinned. “I love how tiny you are.”

“I’m only small compared to you.” To a human guy, I was of average height and extra curvy. Some guys hated stuff like the latter. Orcs were so much larger than us, they didn’t seem to care.

Bonus for us curvy girls.
