Kylie gawks. “Minutes! How about weeks?”

I smirk. “Draugar’s are different. Think you can keep up?”

“Do I have a choice?” she pants, looking distraught but her nails are already digging into my skin, her body greedily pressing up against mine with longing.

Think she’s ready for another round...

And we end up not leaving the bed for days.

8.

Kylie

A storm nears down by the horizon. The sky is a dark navy and rain hangs in the air, making my skin prickle. Out on the balcony, Craven and I stand opposite each other near the balustrade.

This is the first time we’re calm.

We haven’t been able to catch a breather for days now.

All we do is eat and have frantic sex. I’ve never had a super toned stomach before but I’m getting one from all the exercise and Craven...he’s even bulkier than before.

A shiver goes through me when I glance at him.

He wears pajama pants and a long, black robe. My mouth waters at the sight of his naked, tan chest. I should ask him to cover up because he’s distracting me.

And I’m supposed to focus.

We’re out here because he has promised to teach me how to fight.

“Are you ready?” Craven asks, holding his fists up.

“Born ready,” I murmur, knowing that’s such a lie.

My palms are clammy and a lump occupies my throat. He’s witnessing this and the last thing I want is to embarrass myself in front of my man.

“Come on,” Craven nods as lightning strikes down from the sky, “punch me in the face.”

He says it as if it’s easy.

Raising my arm, I do a jab but he ducks without much effort and disappointment flares in me.

Useless.

“Relax,” Craven murmurs, coming up from behind and he puts his arms around my slumped frame. “You’ll get it right eventually.”

“Unlikely.” I hang with my head. “I suck at this.”

“You just need to believe in yourself,” Craven whispers in my ear, “like I believe in you.”

Yeah right...he’s saying those things because he’s my mate.

“I want to go inside,” I say, leaning my head against his shoulder but he tenses for a moment.

“You can’t give up. I know how much this means to you.”

Biting my lip, I reply, “But I don’t want to make a fool out of myself in front of my man.”

He chuckles. “Even if you were a fool, I would still kiss the ground you walk on.” He pulls me tighter and his heat seeps into mine. “You’re all that exists.”
