Part One- Maddens

“Feefifofum,I smell the blood of an English woman!” I bellowed as I stomped my feet in front of a grinning Aisling.

“That doesn’t flow as well. It is supposed to be English man.” Declan said from his spot on the couch and Alfie snorted in amusement.

“I am trying to be a modern man, all about equal opportunity and all,” I said and Declan rolled his eyes.

She giggled as I reached out to tickle her sides and picked her up, nomming on her little cheeks.

“Nom, nom, nom! I am going to eat you all up!” I said as Declan shook his head.

What? The giant can eat women as well as men.” I said and Declan’s eyes heated.

“I am sure the giant ate women all the time.” He grinned wickedly and Alfie laughed, catching the innuendo at the same time as I covered Aisling's ears.

“Hey! Don’t talk like that in front of the baby,” I whispered and Alfie chuckled.

“It isn’t like she understands the innuendo, Con. Besides, she hears plenty of suggestive comments every day and you can’t protect her from the world with the whole sex sells agenda.” Declan said.

I squeezed Aisling against my chest until she squirmed then held her up in front of me.

“Not my little princess. She is perfect and won’t listen to any of that nonsense. Will you, Daddy’s princess?” I said before blowing a raspberry on her cheek until she squealed.

“Daddy has rose-colored glasses on,” Declan said with that same wicked grin. He could never let me say the word daddy without the hint that he was daddy in more ways than one.

I rolled my eyes at him as Aisling went entirely still, her face going red.

“Oh no,” I said as both Alfie and Declan sat up straighter, worry in their eyes.

“What?” They both said in unison right as the wet sound of an explosive poo echoed through the room.

I held Aisling at arm's length, her legs dangling in the air as she frowned, a wet fart following.

“Not it,” Alfie said quickly and hurried from the room. I glared at him before Declan walked over to me, leaned down, and kissed my lips softly.

“Have fun, Daddy.” He said, his lips lingering over mine teasingly. He left the room with a swagger, knowing I was watching him with longing.

“Traitors,” I muttered before Aisling smiled at me sweetly.

“Never mind. We don’t need them, do we, princess? Let’s go get you cleaned up.” We walked to her room where the change station was set up; a change station they had all given me grief over saying it wouldn’t be used and was used by everyone.

I stared down at my daughter, now ten months old and crawling like a champion through the house, keeping all of us on our toes.

She looked just like Elsie, but I had a sneaking suspicion she was also Benjamin’s biologically since she had his nose. Not that we had bothered with finding out who the father was, though it had become a conversation recently when we were asked about medical history.

“Let’s see what you have for daddy in that nappy hey?” I cooed as she clapped her hands at me. I took a deep breath, preparing for the battle ahead.

I didn’t blame the others for running, not really. It wasn’t the poo that had us all apprehensive about nappy changes. It was our little wriggly worm of a daughter who seemed to treat nappy changes as a game of escape.

She stilled and I swear there was a hint of challenge in her eyes as she looked up at me. I debated my options, remembering the panic we had yesterday when she almost fell from the changing table.

I opted to put her on the floor, lifting the entire changing pad to keep her comfortable. She rolled her head around, looking around the room before she looked back at me with that same challenging look.

“Please be good for Daddy this time okay?” I said, grabbing my supplies for the change as she gurgled away happily.
