The blood drains from Maeve's face. I hold in another chuckle as my cock aches against my zipper. She's one of the most beautiful girls I've ever laid eyes on, and she hates me. Yet it makes this situation so much better.

Before I stepped foot in her da's house, I knew he couldn't pay me. I was ready to kill him, but then she showed up and pulled out those rings, changing my plans.

It's perfect, really. My dad's been all over my ass to get married. I'm the last of my brothers to be single. And it seems like the more they fall under the spell of their women, the more it bothers my father that I'm not hitched.

But I don't like any of his choices, and I've not encountered a woman I'm interested in having stand at my side as my wife.

Until I laid eyes on her.

It all started when I slid next to her in a tiny booth at a dingy pub a few months ago. Since then, I've been unable to get her dark hair, piercing blue eyes, or curvy body out of my mind.

Then her da wanted to borrow money from one of my guys. I'd normally pass on lending money to a man who has nothing left and is loyal to my enemy. But then I found out Maeve was his daughter.

I didn't even have to dig for it. The old man was so deep into his gambling addiction he willingly told me all his personal details, which included information on his daughter.

I didn't have any respect for him to begin with, but my disgust for him only grew when he didn't hesitate to mention her. Now that he placed her into a bet, it's at an all-time high.

But his desperation and selfishness are my gain. And I'm going to have fun with this situation.

Maeve tears her shocked gaze off mine and turns it on her da. Her voice shakes harder. "Ya didn't... Tell me ya didn't."

He stays quiet.

"Da?" she says again.

"Ya have a choice, lass," I tell her, knowing full well what she'll choose. This is my world they stepped into and I'm the one calling the shots. What I want is what I'll get.

She snaps her head toward me. "What choice?"

"Well, I can kill your da, or you can marry me. Like I said, it's your choice." I can't help my lips twitching as I try to keep my grin from spreading.

Anger, disgust, and fear resonate around her. She claims, "I'm not marrying ya."

"Well, I guess we know what this situation is, then. Right, Malachy?" I glance at her pathetic father. What kind of man gives his daughter up to pay off his debt anyway? He's more disgusting than I thought.

But all gambling addicts eventually reach a breaking point. This will surely be his. And when he crossed clan lines because he ran out of credit with the O'Learys, I knew he was mine. There's no way I'm walking out of here without Maeve next to me.

Her shock still hasn't fully sunk in. She repeats, "Da?" as if he can save her and it'll somehow change the situation.

He begs, "Please, Maeve, go with him."

She gapes at him.

He whines, "He'll kill me. Just go."

His pathetic response makes me hate him even more. I declare, "Ya know what? You should let me kill him. He's not worthy of ya."

Her glare intensifies as she snarls, "You're disgusting and a horrible person."

I grunt. "Tell me something I don't know, lass."

She keeps her scowl pinned on me. Tension fills the air.

"What's your final decision? Are ya marrying me, or should I kill your da?"

She swallows hard and then refocuses on her father.

His voice turns lower. "Please. I'm sorry, but please."
