She felt him slip the handcuffs around her wrist. “And what do you plan on doing with me?”

“We’re going to take you home, spread you out on the bed, and lick every inch of your beautiful skin.”

She wanted to laugh, but that would hurt their young manly feelings. They would spill their load before they could get off first base.

Glancing back at the guests dancing the night away, she made sure no one was paying them any mind.

With trained ease, she slipped off the cuffs, spun around, and took the man to the ground. She slapped them on him, and before the other man could run, she snared his leg and had him grounded next to his friend.

She sat on his back, his wrists in her hands.

“Now, gentlemen, tell me how many times you’ve played this little game of yours and how often it works.”

They were both silent as they lay on their stomachs in the grass.

“Uh, we’re sorry. A lot of women like it,” the one man said.

“Well, as a peace officer, I don’t,” she said.

A tall, handsome man wearing a cowboy hat and dressed in jeans came around the corner and shook his head. “What have you two idiots done now?”

They glanced up at the man and groaned.

“They’re pretending to be officers and they were going to arrest me,” she said.

The man gazed at her, his dark eyes traveling along her body. A heat she’d not felt in a long time caressed her.

“Jordan Nash,” he said, stepping toward her. “Sheriff of Blessing, Texas, and this one is my stupid younger brother. The one beside him is my deputy’s stupid younger brother.”

She shook the man’s hand, the heat spiraling up her arm and down into her center.

This was her suspect. The man she was here to investigate.

“Do you want to file charges against these two?” he asked seriously.

Staring down at them, she grinned and wanted to put the fear of God into them. “Well, they were going to spread me wide and lick every inch of my beautiful skin.”

The kids on the ground groaned.

“I think he’s a little too young to be making those kinds of promises,” the sheriff said. “Hell, the boy is in college, but his maturity level is in junior high.”

She laughed.

Another man came around the corner and shook his head.

“Kyle, I swear I’m going to take you out behind the barn. What did he do now?”

Jordan turned and shook his head. “He and Franco were harassing her.”

The man gazed at her and she returned his stare. He must be the deputy. The other man she was to investigate.

When a child went missing and the law officers were the last to have seen her, it throws suspicion on them and their office. It was time to find out what happened to five-year-old Rena Taylor.

And that was what Camila was here to find out. Child trafficking was her specialty.

“Deputy Ely Austin,” the man said, holding out his hand.

“Marshal Camila Garcia,” she said. “I’m Trevor’s sister.”
