The rest of the evening played out every bit as fun-filled as I’d hoped – and I’m more than certain that Taylor feels the same way too.

After a long, much-needed shower, the pair of us ended up having a whole ton of fun in the bathroom, the kitchen, and back out on the balcony.

To say that both of us ended the night fully satisfied wouldn’t even do it justice. Both mine and Taylor’s stamina and sexual appetite were perfectly in tune and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better first experience together.

After falling asleep in one another’s arms in my king sized bed, I was woken about an hour ago by my natural body clock.

Call me a workaholic, but I don’t remember the last time I slept in beyond 5:00AM. I guess I’m just built that way now. Too many years of working eighteen hour days seem to have permanently adjusted my body clock. Not that I’m complaining.

With Taylor fast asleep in the bedroom, I’m sitting in my office and doing some more digging as to who might be responsible for causing so much shit over the Las Malvinas development.

After pouring over some files that my assistant managed to gather from a planning meeting a few weeks ago, I see a message pop up in my email.

It’s from a name I haven’t heard from in quite some time.

And it’s not a name I ever wanted to hear from again either…

Harrison… so. Long time. How’s small town life treating you? I guess when you can’t hack it in the big city, anywhere small must be a relief. But, whatever. Enough of the pleasantries. Here’s the thing. I’m working with some big clients now. And your Las Malvinas site came onto their radar for some unknown reason. Thing is, my clients are used to getting what they want. And they weren’t happy when your early bid was accepted. They want the site. They’re willing to pay you market value, but not a penny more. And now with your… problems… with the planning department, I think you should consider this offer very seriously. NICO ;)

‘You have to be fucking kidding me,’ I say, using every ounce of discipline not to pick up my laptop and toss it directly out of the window. ‘Nico Wilder. Asshole!’

Nico was an employee of mine when I made my move to the cities all those years ago. At first he seemed like the kind of team member that any business owner would kill for.

Nico was hard working.

The boy was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and had a good eye for a deal too.

Nico was cute too – and we did begin to see each other, a decision I regret to this day. Because for all of Nico’s qualities, he was also full to the brim with far less positive traits.

Nico was underhanded, devious, and manipulative.

The boy soon proved himself to be impossible to trust too – and in part he was behind me decision to quit city life and rebuild my business back in Los Torros.

I hadn’t heard from Nico since leaving, and to be honest didn’t expect to ever hear from him again. So to be confronted by this email, and for it to be written with all the typical smarm and slyness that left me with such a bitter taste in my mouth… well it juststinks.

But if Nico thinks I’m going to give him the dignity of a response, he needs to think again. He’ll get no reply from me.

And not only that, but now that Nico has revealed his hand, it gives me the perfect opportunity to formulate a response and work out exactly what I need to do to secure the future of the Las Malvinas project and kick Nico out of my life for one final time.

I lean back in my chair and take a deep breath.

But it soon becomes clear that I’ve been joined by a boy cut from a totally different cloth to Nico.

‘Daddy?’ Taylor says, looking adorable in his briefs as he leans against the door frame and rubs his eyes. ‘Do you wake up this early every morning?’

‘Yup, you got me,’ I chuckle. ‘I thought you’d be an early rise too? What with working in the construction business.’

‘Hehe, I am, but not on my days off!’ Taylor giggles. ‘And even on workdays it normally takes three different alarms to get me up and out of bed.’

‘Interesting,’ I say, beckoning Taylor over toward me. ‘Well if you spend some nights with me, I’ll make sure you’re up nice and early.’

‘How?’ Taylor says, a mischievous grin on his face as he sits on my lap.

‘Oh, you’ll find out,’ I reply, squeezing Taylor around the waist and delighting as he wriggles around on me. ‘Come on, let’s make a morning fruit juice. And then… well, let’s just see where the day takes us.’

With that, the pair of us get up from the chair and walk out of the office and toward the kitchen.

Nico Wilder can wait.
